By this I mean we are supposed to believe this world is stuck in a medieval technological state yet we have gnomes and goblins with some technology we don’t even have in modern day (mechs and high tech robots) and we have grenades and gliders and tanks ffs! And we have a F*CKIN SPACE SHIP WITH A LAZER GUN and you guys are going to tell me the fact that people even use axes and swords? Wouldn’t they be using guns by now since those exist in warcraft? Please someone explain how wow lore makes any sense on any level…
I believe most of those questions can be answered by looking at the name of the game’s genre.
‘‘fantasy’’ yes but people always question the logic behind the story, like people saying jaina teleporting all the time when in danger is stupid so why don’t people question the entire logic that the world is in a medieval setting but there are space ships and modern warfare technology
I mean, the spaceships are made by aliens, and the modern technologies are made by reclusive civilizations who just recently joined forces with the medieval races.
Because the steampunk element of this game at the beginning was very limited, pretty much only the gnomes and dwarves used tanks and gyrocopters and gunpowder, and the sci-fi element was literally non-existant since spaceships were introduced in TBC. And anyway gnomes were basically an extinct race while dwarves were only Alliance and only had ties with the Humans, so it makes sense that most races still used rudimentary weapons and magic.
but even dwarves and gnomes are using swords… when they have TANKS… ?? and gnomish flying machines existed in wc games even
I mean, use your imagination, maybe said tanks are expensive to make and resources are scarce due to the many wars that ravaged the frozen region that is Khaz Modan?
I mean enough to use them to invade winterspring fortress in WotLK. Or enough for sylvannas to make an azerite one within what was probably a month of lore time after the discovery of azerite. Or how about enough to have all gnomes troops too have guns, and common engineering devices to be GRENADES!??!
you do know the concept of people using bows when even just muskets exist is stupid enough right? let alone the proper canons of a gun we’ve seen and again must I mention MECHS, TANKS AND SPACE SHIPS
oh and don’t forget even in vanilla, in gnomeragan there is a 2 bosses in mechs, a self functioning robot, LAND MINES and not too mention the fact that gnomeragan itself is a futuristic design we probably couldn’t pull off in real life
Nah… Technolgy is unpredictable.
It can fail with the smallest things - this is why some prefer old school things.
Where the musket needs a lot of time and preperation, the bow doesn’t.
Some hunters IRl prefer the bow to the riffel due to it making no sound, and the speed and precision of it.
In a world that is mixed with magic and muscle, it is wise not to rely on weaponry that might blow up, because someone blast it with an energy bolt or fire bolt
I mean it is proven fact that guns are far superior weapons too bows and when muskets were invented in real life, extremely rapidly bows were not used by 1st world countries in war.
And as far as magic goes, what makes a series of contraptions and mechanism with metal and plastic worse than a wooden stick with string?
How is that a proven fact?
Muskets are and were crap, even when they were made… Unpredictable, this is why the handgun was more used when it appeared on the scene.
In a world where magic can wipe you, it is better to close the distance with a heroic leap and a swing of a massive axe
warriors aren’t magic though? Not before legion at least. So the question begs too differ WHY can they do that? Are humans super human in this world vs real life humans?
my point with all this is that it seems silly to critique wow lore when you already have to take A THOUSAND suspensions of disbelief…
This is true, muskets were crap for quite a long time. They were extremely unreliable and inaccurate.
they were better than bows…
Except you put in the title “SINCE DAY 1”, so of course I was talking ONLY about Classic, I even made that obvious in my post. Maybe next time write your title better. As I already said there were no spaceships in Classic nor was technology that popular, in fact there were no gnomes with gun weapons in Classic afaik, nor were there many grenades or other engineering devices like that, especially since the technological races like gnomes and goblin were very much irrelevant.
And yes, there are those mechanical things in Gnomeregan, and again, it was ONE DUNGEON in an entire world, so don’t tell me that the technology was so influential as it is now.
No they weren’t. They only saw usage in formation fighting and in great battles because then, you theoretically have to hit something.
tanks and the land mines were
Yes, and indeed there were several tanks in the Alliance especially in the EK where there are the dwarves and gnomes.
but this is kind of besides the point anyway because wow universe has BETTER than musketts, MUCH better!
I honestly don’t understand your point. You are surprised by a fantasy universe lacking logical development?
