20% dmg boost from talent apply to mutilate from any angle actually. Tool tip says that it works if behind target because for example you cannot use backstab in front and mutilate benefits from everything backstab gets, but have no positioning restriction, so it works in front too, it’s misunderstood by many.

Probably not. If you’re mega lucky on a low armor target you could bang 3 double crits out in a row which is what 2100 damage? So 3s to get that out. I have 3.1k hp in BGs so no 1 rogue isn’t taking me down that fast. A rogue would have to actually play properly stunlocking to kill me 1v1 and get the opener. Tbh 2.1k with decent rng over 3s isn’t really that impressive compared to other classes

Tested it before , but clearly I gotta do again.

Also mutilate does 20% more if target is poisoned, instant poisons are not poisoning the target (because it’s instant)
Take that in account, can confuse you.
When testing you would see the 20% less dmg because no poison debuff on target, and may happens to have it when you test in back side, it can leave you with different results.

Pshero to name one, you have one 99 parse when try harding - I have two in my PvP spec not even trying - even at your own parsing game your trash mate.

Ye mostly for pve couse of you have deadly so havent thought about it. But didnt think oppurtunity worked if you aint behind.

And then check how rogues are doing in pve these days. Im not saying mutilate aint broken, but if you are removing broken abilities/spells there are alot more of spells infront on the nerf hammer

It’s starsurge all over again. “Oh, that class’s strugglin’, let’s give em one op rune, that’ll fix things!”. And that bandied completely warps the class around itself, technically somewhat keeping it afloat in balancing department. I honestly expect it being nerfed back to 60 the moment p3 drops and we’re no longer facing robot bois with 9001 armor.

Ye I literally don’t know why there isn’t runes for each aspect of rogue. 40 energy mutilate makes slaughter pointless
I would much rather they made mutilate like 50 energy. Buffed saber slash % damage by like 15% and made slaughter from the shadows have some synergy with other finishers like rupture or eviscerate. There Is so many obvious ideas for rogue that wouldn’t be busted and would open the doors for other styles or play.

Which is why I go back to the Devs really seem like they have failed rogue in sod currently. It is just underwhelming

Balance Mutilate and give rogues raid buffs to make them more appealing in PvE - perhaps SS needs a buff to make it more competitive as damage.

For PvP, sure there are many abilities and classes that need to get balanced out.

I kinda considered SoD to be a testing ground for classic+ in the future. But if that’s the case - what are we testing? “Is 40 energy builder that gives you 2 combo points and hits like a truck any good”? But maybe it’s just me and SoD’s just a “done and gone” deal.

Well I mean yes so did I. But rogue hasn’t changed since P2 release and everyone could have said without even using napkin maths that the mutilate change was gonna make it strong.

If classic plus is gonna be based on how rogue is right now and sod is the testing grounds the the test is failing.

Like you could make a rune to make it so when you used eviscerate it also applies rupture and it would be just about the same damage as envenom with all the extra poison procs. That is how unbalanced the runes are currently. 2 original 5 point spenders combined roughly equate to 1 spender.
