Can we have player housing in classic too please

I don’t see why not?

  • The engine can support it (as its the same engine as retail)
  • The demand is there for it
  • It was originally ment to be implemented in classic
  • There are portals in SW/Org that where originally designed to be entrances to homesteads
  • The roleplaying experience in classic is significantly better than retail, more reason for allowing it in classic
  • Older MMO’s released at the time of WoW (STG, LOTRO) have proven that it is possible
  • Classic players are more socailable that retail players

Lmao the clone character telling me to act civil? this thread just keeps getting better and better.

Oh well I tried to, but if you have to act insafferable to others i will just put you on ignore, best thing to do with AD people :kissing_heart:

It is not, or people would just get their #MoreChanges retail graphics for Classics. Or even better, we would launch Classic within the Retail client.

So far there’s 1 thread about it recently (that I could find). With snippets in the past.

That is not correct. According some verrry old quotes they had plans, not for release or specific versions.

It took awhile, but it is coming.

It has been admitted by (ex)devs that it was part of alpha developed player housing. The current expected player housing is coming to Midnight Retail.

Personal opinion. There’s lively RP on both versions.

If I have to take a look at FF where they sell land plots for housing where they got bought up by entire rich players/FC’s then well… It was possible yes. I’m glad it will be an instanced version but I expect it also to go down often in the early days.

You must realise that player housing is actually anti-social as that removes players from the open world to a private zone (if house set to guilds/friends/private)?

I was thinking this as well - Garrison is a good example of this. Not exactly player housing but not far from either.

i dont see why yes?

Back in the days when i played UO (Ultima Online) We had housing. We dident have a OH so people aded vendors to their houses. People used to show how good they were in pvp be displaying heads of pk’s they killed. People build run librarys where you could go. What kind of house you had was to show how rich you were. RP guilds build houses close and made it an area where they coul make things hapend.

When thinking of wow i cant see the benefit of it. If they ad it they should also make so your hous can be atractive for others to visit.
I meen why would i go to your house?

Player housing is a controversial topic, because instanced version of it in WoW called the garrison failed spectacularly.

WoW would never be sandbox MMO so customisation of said house structure would be very limited to pre determined rectangles, circles, half-circles, crosses and “L” shapes. The only thing they let you fully customise would be interior furniture and items on it, the floor and the walls.

It absolutely can not, best you can get are barely customizable garrisons.

Thist is the first time I see anyone asking for player housing in literal years of Classic. Maybe there was one or two requests in early Classic.

Are you high or something? Quoting and just laughing for no reason. No text just laughs.
While im not interested in housing, everything he said is generally true (except RP stuff maybe) :man_shrugging:

Last of my knowledge was that classic ran on modified Legion client, and then BFA during wrath. Right now it probably is the same retail client, just using old assets.

Literally means they wanted to implement it for release, just scrapped early on and postponed it until whenever (now we know its midnight)

Agree to this, best approach would be instanced neighbourhoods of, say 40 ppl (raid size) would make it more social as you would see the same players over and over

It took awhile, but it is coming.

Early alpha versions of the game had prototype player housing with very limited functionality - designed more as a proof of concept than anything else. There’s even some Youtube footage of it, but it was quickly scrapped in subsequent versions after Blizzard concluded that it simply wasn’t feasible to implement.

Back in Ye Olden Dayes of 2005 when I was on my RP server and my playstyle was heavily geared toward RP I used to long for player housing.

But afterward, having since played LotRO, The Old Republic and other games with player housing I’ve come to the realisation that having a player home sounds cool on paper, but in reality it’s just somewhere I use to store my stuff. I have very little inclination to spend any real time there, as just walking around a pre-created house with some doodads and furniture is not very interesting.

To make it work you have to invest in it, on both a physical and emotional level - put the work in, make it yours.

That’s why my Skyrim Lakeview Manor feels cool to visit, as I build the thing myself, and then spent hours decorating and outfitting it… and my Fallout 4 settlements are even better as I’d put literally months of work into some of them.

I was under the same impression that they used an older client, not the current up to date Retail Client. Interesting.

Some games have functional or slight boosts to professions/others while in home  I even had a tiny garden to grow crops! Hey wait a second…

Anyway, Wildstar was pretty good with housing back then.
