Can we look into Blizzard's Mind about Class Quests?

Is there a way to find out what was Blizzard’s reasoning when they created class quests?

I mean druid gets lots of quests until level 20, they have to do few quests to learn cure poison, forms and etc.

Shamans are decent, with 3 totem quests. Then fizzle out after level 20.

Priests have 1 lame quest at level 5, get +1 spirit robe and then nothing until 1.11 patch(Sunken Temple quests).

Hunters also stop getting quests after level 10.

So what is the reasoning behind this? Why should druid have to do 4 quests to have cure poison, while priest gets 0 immersion in the game by having none?

Warlocks have absolute beautiful journey with class quests all over the place. Same with mages. Warriors have decent quests too even if the gear they get is slightly off levels.

What was the reasoning of the developers while creating these quests for different classes?

Vanilla wasn’t a finished product, ever.
That is why.

True its why they left in the gnomes punching bag but forgot to remove them now people even play them…

Because class quests are meant as an RPG tool to give classes more of a feeling of their role(s) and mechanics, it’s the same reason different Priest races get different spells and there are faction-only classes.

Those are not supposed to be equalized amongst all the classes.

As an alliance player I wouldn’t use the word “beautiful” about a journy deep into horde territory at level 20…

As others have already pointed out the vanilla developers ran out of time. It’s the same reason some zones have very little content/quests while the starting zones are pretty amazing.

First off, who told you that Hunters don’t receive any class quests after lvl 10?

Ever heard of Rok’Delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers and the Petrified Leaf?

As a Shaman, I gotta say that my class quests and the text therein, really made me feel like one of the Horde’s Elite, like the quest text tells you that you are.

Also, you will never forget as a Shaman the quest to get the Totem Of Water. Guaranteed.

I did it atleast once back in vanilla, but for some reason I can’t remember anything about it apart from its existence.

I do wish there were a lot more class quests.

Such a nice piece of content to spice up the game and levelling and really get you into your class, especially when the loot pieces are unique and interesting like the warr quest that gives you a mail chest that gives 30 rage on use etc but with 1 hour cd

It’s literally because classic wasn’t finished.

So, us priests only get 1 quest to get a feeling of our role and mechanics? xD.
But yeah… it’s literally only because the class quests weren’t completed for vanilla, that we don’t have many.

You get a specific race/faction spell too.

So I’m meant to feel like it’s a RPG, because I don’t get many class quests?.. because I get a specific race spell? lol.

At the end of the day, vanilla was not completed… therefore we did not get many class quests.
Ah, you edited your post after I typed it out, but alas.
It doesn’t really change much though.

Well, getting a skill that will last you a lifetime is a heavy RPG element rather a one time quest. But yeah, I agree that if there had to be more the game would have felt better and more alive.

For example, the quest for the Lock’s and Paladin’s mount is really enjoyable and the fact that (at least for the Paladin one) bringing more of your own class is a good thing to complete it makes it even better.

It’s really visible that classic wasnt ready if you ever did the shaman air totem quest. It was meant to be a chain, but due to timerestrictions you just go pcik up your totem at the very first NPC you meet.

I think that questline is the reason why the Horde have Zeppelins and the Alliance don’t. Running behind the Sepulcher Inn and down the hills is a nice shortcut too.

Well, yes, hunters have to do both MC and ONY to get it. I did not forget it, it is just irrelevant.

And yes, shamans do finish class quests at level 20, with water totem quest.

P.S. Would be nice to have more class quests…
