If you don’t know what it is:
Name selling is when some cucks try and take as many “good” names as possible and then sell them for real money. This is especially popular on RP realms internationally.
Isn’t this bannable?

Pretty sure it is. Though it can be hard to say if the names are taken by name sellers, or picked up by one of the AD folks.
I believe if it is caught and brought to Blizzard’s attention it can be bannable. However, I will have to wait out and hope that the name Alistair might one day become available.
Wouldn’t pay real money for it at all.
This part is bannable.
Selling names for gold, so far as I know, is not.
sounds like you’re the one that’s been [redacted] amigo
not when name sellers get their accounts banned I’m not
If they sell for real money, then it is a bannable offense.
what even counts as a “good” name?
I understand the blight of finding a name, but I have surprisingly rarely had the issue with my way over 100 characters, I made and deleted through the years.
why is this a problem? how do you even know if a name is good?
like is “Goregrom” a good name?
is my name a good name?
is Fatugly a good name?
what counts?
I don’t even mind people trading for gold for names or even making a thread here ‘Look for name’ Just a small possability someone might have the name and isn’t using it.
Yes it is.
Nah.
Just maybe.
When I first read your name I thought it was the redacted word for “rear end activities”.
If I remember correctly, a GM confirmed that selling names for in-game currency is perfectly fine. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone try to sell names for real world $ though.
John. George. Mike. Linda. Karen. Susan. Just very normal baseline names that are good for roleplaying Humans.
what?
… Anal.
Sucks when people grab a bunch for selling but… I mean, can’t stop them and getting a name you enjoy -is- nice. Don’t think it’s against the rules to sell for game cash.
Or when someone takes a name with no intention of using it and it would sit there at level 10 or 15.
Once I had to ask blizzard, again and again, to free up a particular name that wasn’t used since cata and eventually during Legion they freed it up for me. That is often what it takes.
I’m fairly certain they don’t manually release specific names on request anymore. You just have to wait and hope you get lucky when names get automatically released from inactive accounts (can’t remember how long it takes though).
