I mean unintended by the devs. Anyway I made a thread about my make-it-more-core-to-the-game-if-you-want-it-to-be-fun idea Idea to designers: shrinking and enlarging class abilities; for encounters , to not go off topic here.
I don’t understand the hate train / community responses and I frankly can’t wrap my thoughts around the fact that the people playing the game have become unbearable lately. Ofcourse Shadowlands has issues and flaws, but that’s not the case just for WOW expansions, it’s the case for every single thing in the world.
Now that that’s out of the way, let me give my feelings about the expansion.
- Class playstyles are so much better than most of the expansions (excluding WOTLK - MOP versions). Alot of abilities have returned, and I think it’s way better than Legion / BFA for sure.
- In my opinion, M+ is in the best spot there is. I personally think that Legion introduced some of the BEST dungeons the game offers (Court of stars, Darkheart Thicket, Neltharion’s Lair), but if we look at M+ overall and how it’s scaling after some tweaks now, it’s really good. They hit the perfect sweet spot in terms of difficulty between bosses / trash. Legion M+ focused too hard on bosses abilities (that would one shot), BFA brought tons of annoying trash mobs that were really bad on fortified weeks, and now I would say it’s really good.
- Covenants are great. I love everything about them. I’m actively playing 4 characters (1 of each covenant) and I’m having a blast. I don’t care so much for the switching part since I haven’t done a single switch so far, so I’m maybe speaking from my perspective, but I think it’s really good. For me, it’s a huge improvement from BFA where you had the alliance / horde differences. I love that all my 4 horde characters are having different things to do.
- Covenant minigames are just amazing. I tried the Path of Ascension, the stitching, Ember court and these 3 things are phenomenal! Really sad that so few players have actually tried them. POA is so fun (I haven’t done the hardest challenges yet), but everything up to the last path is actually a blast. Stitching is also great, but the ember court is so fun! The only lackluster one is the NF one since you just plant seeds, but I understand it since it’s the fantasy of it.
- I really like the Maw assaults, not gonna lie. I think they are such an upgrade from the assaults in 8.3.
I guess getting flying in SL for less effort is better than the last expansions.
Dungeons are better from design and I like it that seasonal affixes aren’t just there to make it harder.
The only negative thing is that Prideful should have been the s2 affix. The most fun was experimenting while learning the dungeons to find a good route that works for me.
But with an affix depending on percentages at the start I had to look for good routes much earlier. And while the buffs from the seasonal affixes are more rewarding in SL, Prideful also felt punishing when you had the add at the wrong time.
