Can We Track Achievements Per Character in WoW?!

Is there a way to track achievements in-game for a specific character?

I’m reaching out with a bit of frustration, hoping for a solution. I enjoy playing alts and consider myself a bit of a completionist. This means I like to re-do or re-earn achievements I’ve already completed on other characters. To my knowledge, tracking achievements on a per-character basis has never been straightforward.

In the past, I could at least rely on some in-game feedback when re-completing account-wide achievements. For example, re-doing all the quests in Eastern Plaguelands would still give me the satisfying “ding” and a chat message when hitting the goal. Additionally, the achievement would appear in the “recent achievements” feed for that character, showcasing the last few achievements earned.

However, since the introduction of Warbands, this no longer seems to work the same way. I find this change frustrating. Just because I’ve earned an achievement once doesn’t mean I’m not interested in earning it again on another character.

Previously, there was also an option in the interface settings to display only character-specific achievements to other players. By using the Armory on the WoW website, it was somewhat possible to track achievements for a specific character. But again, this functionality seems to be missing now.

So, my question is: Is there currently a way to track achievements for a specific character in-game?

If not, Blizzard, could you consider adding a toggle or an option to enable this functionality? I’m sure other completionists and alt enthusiasts would appreciate it as much as I would.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

It hasn’t been possible to track character achievements since the start of Mists - 5.0.4

At the time, I was intensely annoyed and disturbed by this, since I had two characters that I had locked at … I think it was 20 and 30, or 20 and 40? and I was seeing how many achievements I could get on them. The change took that fun from me. Thanks, devs. :-1:

I searched addons, API calls, asked other people who were knowledgeable about the innards. Nope, not possible. I don’t remember the specifics now, but I remember I wanted to earn Ambassador on my level 20. After Account-Wide Achievements, I had it on my 20 automatically, but it meant nothing.

Another disappointment.

There once was an addon to unhighlight some/most achievements that your character hadn’t completed. The author wrote that it wasn’t possible to differentiate them all. I used it for a while anyway, but because it was partial, it just kept reminding me, so I stopped.

My attitude to the devs became: if you don’t care about the integrity of your achievement system, why should I? So I stopped looking at them. I lost interest.

And maybe that’s why I haven’t noticed a difference with Warbands. I am still definitely getting toasts on characters for achievements another character has already completed, where the achievement can still be related to a specific character at all.

Do you have a specific example of an achievement for which you didn’t get a toast?

Incidentally, if you like encouraging sounds when you do something new, try All The Things addon. It gives you a fanfare everytime you learn a new appearance.
