Can you please do something about population!?!?!?

There are way too many era servers…

Im on firemaw supposedly one of the busiest servers
its still pretty dead…

Either get rid of 90% of the servers are merge them all please!
The neutral AH never has anything in it theres like 5 people online in any other given level bracket seriously login too firemaw and do a /who you will see what im talking about straight away…

There was a reason the classic private servers were so busy and enjoyable and thats because they dident have the entire population spread over a million servers

I want too stay in retail classic and continue paying my subscription but the servers are too dead man… this an issue you could literaly fix TODAY! please do something about it!

We do not really have that many realms in Era.
We have - EU English: 1 PvE cluster, 1PvE-RP realm, 1 PvP-RP realm and 2 PvP clusters. Merge those last 2 is the most they could do.
Adding some kind of markings so that newcomers can see that it’s merged realms would be nice.

And to add to your frusration. Concerning battlegrounds ALL EU Era servers are already merged, English, Russian, Spanish, English …

Well I just looked now Firemaw Horde there’s 69 1-59 online and 60’es so many that /who 60 Undead gives 50+
AH is not as used in Era as you’d expect. Guild economy is up and running - why should I put on AH what a guildie can use?

Maybe they mean the other faction?

I think the OP may mean the people they can see in Undercity or Darnassus, not any kind of /who count.

I just logged on and did a /who and found 43 people at 1:56 CEST on Firemaw Horde and about the same on Alliance.

It is rather simple… merge all servers across the globe, one PvP one PvE and one RP, and realms will be active 24/7 you can ether raid/pvp at us primetime or eu primetime. Solves population issue. Let crossfaction party/raid/guild in pve or rp realms, besides they r not related with pvp, in pvp realms u can interact with hostile faction by engaging in pvp in rp and pve you cant, and besides you pick those realms coz simply you dont wish to pvp in world, so we cant we have the option to interact/play with other faction aswell against pve as the realm type suggests. Also gives a + to play pve or rp realms besides, and we will decide if we wanna make friends or foes. 3 realms total will do. And before any1 start mumbling about ms and complain because 50ms+ might be unplayable, let me notify you that there is a 400ms delay already in spells. And i find more playable a realm with say 120ms rather a realm with 50 ppl peak.

Firemaw is busy if you play Alliance. Horde has taken a trip over to Gehennas.

Nope. They could, and should, merge all into a single server.

That’s the thing with P. Servers. People move to them, level up, achieve everything they can and move to another one and the cycle begins again.

Also as you said private servers are global. You knowingly sacrifice your experience due to latency just to play it while it would not be acceptable to Blizzard.

The thing is, the classic servers suffers from people “finishing” it and moving on. The population you currently see is the population that’s willing to stay and play on “finished” server and there aren’t that many interested in doing so. You have to realize that once the last phase rolled out, the server would become hardly playable as there’s no new content to keep players interested.

PvE server then
I still prefer at least 2

Honnestly u talk about private servers wich in fact r not servers meant for proffesional stuff, like hosting a game 24/7 for example and im pretty sure blizzard budget and servers they can buy have nothin to compare with those private backyard servers, so in fact i dont think latency gonna be a thing and even if there is u might get like 20-30ms more or so, i cant say im sacrificing my gaming experience any at all… in a rainy day im pretty sure u gonna have more latency on at your local server right in your town, than you will have in a global one, and besides they can use sharding for that, 2 servers into one, 1 in eu 1 in us… isnt that what sharding is all bout is it not?

I have never played on private server nor will I ever. But it would be interesting to know how faction balance is there ?

Latency is not the issue of server hardware but the issue of speed of light limit.

Since you don’t know this, I assume you’ve always managed to play at servers geographically close to you. I’m not talking about 20-30ms. I’m talking about 200-300ms and playing even something like WoW at 300ms is not enjoyable.

This is why regions exists, not because blizzards lazy or don’t want EU players to play with US or China, but because they prioritize player experience and you can’t have good experience if you have 200-300ms delay. Servers have to be physically as close as possible to minimize latency.

Totally agree here. I’m living in the countryside, far from any server - even here latency can be quite bad at peak hours :frowning:

Well whole networking thing is very complicated but in your case it may be that rural network switches are already old/cheap and can’t handle traffic when everyone starts watching Netflix in the evening.

Few thousand km to the server shouldn’t cause much latency so as I said it’s most likely your rural area network infrastructure is coping hard with todays loads.

That was true before - with the old cables. I saw during Corona - first year when workday ended and everybody uploaded, we had LAGG - took sometimes 30 minutes to send an e-mail  But now we have fibre-net, everything is so much faster, still I have always latency. Actually this time of day my latency playing on the US server is not much worse  148 ms for US and 58 ms for EU (Retail Starter Edition on the Island expedition both) Framerate never exceeds 25.

EDTI:
But I still prefer EU servers to stay for themselves, and to have at least 2 EU servers. Else either the PvP or the PvE minded players will stop playing - and then the cure will be worse than the disease.

One Realm of each type would be ideal.

Please stop spreading misinformation, especially if you don’t have proof of what you are talking about.

If anyone else is really interested in checking out Classic Era realms, we recently made this thread with all the info you may need:
https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/vy59yd/undead_era_the_actual_state_of_the_classic_era/

Other than that, the rest is fine, we need more realms connections.
Ideally 1 PvP, 1 PvE, 1 RP realms only.

The PTR had both NA and EU and ran smoothly. Ive played private servers that were global without lag problems. This isnt a precision twitch shooter its a 15 year old rpg with a global cooldown, in 2022, it would be fine. If EU and US can play together on games like Overwatch, CSGO, COD and even f2p Paladins etc. I think big Blizzard Activision can manage it for wow classic.

" Global Play is available for all our games except for World of Warcraft ."

still to many,

there are TWO PvP-Server clusters for german servers alone.
(the venoxis cluster and the patckwork cluster).

overall I would just get rid of language specific clusters and just merge everything into one PvP-Server cluster and one PvE-server cluster.

I have since he clustering advocated for a clustering/merging … of the two PvP clusters. I always wondered why they made two English and 2 German … Now it really does not matter any more, as the one I call PvP 1 is populated and PvP 2 is very lov pop and ZT is dead.
I made this overview over the EU English clusters:

I do not find it rigth to merge languages - re. the “drama” with Celebras/ZT/HW

I suggest 3 ‘clusters’ per language:
1 PvP, 1 PvE and 1 RP-PvE.
I know that they are all low-pop now, but they are meant to stay forever, and I see people returning in the future.
