Can you skip the Dragonflight story?

Once you unlock dragonflying is it still required to beat the storyline or can I level up doing dungeons and professions?

A man’s gotta do what a man has to do. I’m no fan of the way the story is written. Feels too whimsical, Disney-esque and childish. The introduction up to dragonflying was more enough of a humiliation ritual so I’m wondering if I can skip all the Tumblr action and skip it all to max level once I’ll passively generate enough gold on my retail characters to buy Dragonflight through tokens?

I’ve picked up the hint on what it was about, but the way it has been written in the quest lines up to where I unlocked Dragonflying was a cruel experience. The voice actors are really bad, and like I said the way it is been written is very, very childish.

The idea of Dragon Isles itself is pretty neat, but the way it has been created through quests and NPC is well, lame.
Also I would’ve preferred if we actually hunted and tamed a dragon or multiple dragons instead of getting them gifted.

It just feels like I’m in a Disney show!

So you don’t even have the expansion yet and you know the story is bad?

To answer your question, you should play the story to at least to a point you get your first dragon riding mount to make it easier to get around in dragon isles, but technically I believe it is possible to skip the story and level to max with just herbing/mining and running dungeons. Not sure if you can unlock the renown factions that way tough.

If you choose to play through the story for the first time, your other alts don’t have to follow the story anymore and you can level up freely where ever you want. You will also unlock daily quests and some other end game content for your alts too once finished the story at least once

I can attest to the fact it stays cringe from the beginning to the end. The first quests sets the tone perfectly for the garbage that awaits in the rest of the Disney Isles.

I would have instantly taken the option to skip if given the chance as well.

I did it on one char and skip everything on alts. Works well. As for the cringe story: skip button? I read about the lgbtq stuff in the game and figured I’m fine with getting max lvl and get access to endgame content for this expansion. Previous expansions I enjoyed the story a bit more.

Especially after everything we’ve accomplished in shadowlands or even, the last decade.

no you cant. so with the 1st char you MUST complete it.

That’s mainly side quests tbh.
The main story isn’t very whimsical at all.
And you can skip side quests if you want. Your loss, I suppose.

Fyi:

The Waking Shores: The zone storyline sees Alexstrasza summoning the Alliance and Horde to aid the red flight against the native Djaradin, while Wrathion seeks to reclaim the Obsidian Citadel of the black flight from enemy hands and come to terms with the state of his ruined flight.

The Ohn’ahran Plains: First sees you helping out and learning about the centaur tribes, which then go to war with one of the clans because of betrayal. After that you help out the green dragonflight in their area to fight off the Primalists and then help renew the bond between the centaur and the green dragonflight.

The Azure Span: Part of this storyline can be considered the most ‘whimsical’ as you help out the local Tuskarr, but most of the storyline revolves around aiding the blue dragonflight here to re-activate their oathstone.

Thaldraszus: Dragonflight-wise this is probably the most lighthearted one as you help the bronze dragonflight and travel through time. I found it awesome and some of the most fun and surprising quests of all.

“I’ve read things on the internet and I don’t need to think for myself and form my own opinion so it’s baaad.”

Dragonflight rocks, and the story is cool. It’s 100% WoW.

Ok, now you’re just repeating what the haters are saying, “OoOh! DiSnEy!”, sure it’s a change from the grimdark stuff in the past years, and in places a bit too… bubbly, but like you said: A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do.

You have to finish the campaign on at least one character, so you at least know what the expansion is about (Like it or not), and a lot of account-wide stuff unlocks during the campaign, on alts you can dive right into side-quests, dungeons, or whatever, but your main has to go through the motions…

FF14 & Lost Ark has story skip in their shop.

Time for WoW to get with the times and add it aswell

Why even bother trying it if you’ve already decided you hate it??

I mean thats how I feel about mushrooms…but TBF as Im an adult I did actually try them before I decided they taste like poop!

Just treat stroy quest like world quests

Skip skip skip everything - dont read anything.
Thats how stroy wont bother you.

You need rep and extra perks from stroy. Also it helps to grow profs. If you dont care about it then just level through dungeons or cobalt assembly (boost- few hours and you max level)

payin not to playin? wow

Wow… impressive.

The irony is that people like you who worry about things being childish act like my 10 year old when a tiny little thing isn’t the way he wants it to be like. He is excused though, he is 10. You are probably an adult, and should have grown out of it.

From what I saw through the trial, yes.

I see so I’m forced to partake in the humiliation ritual of Dragonflight.

:joy: yeah :joy: how to train  your dragon :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::smirk:

You tame a dragon in the warrior order hall into submission by punching it in the face. The Disney show did not come in my head.
I want to fight and wrestle dragons.

Are you kidding me? I thanked the titans when Sentrax died. Hardly a side quest, but if you consider these characters not whimsical and obnoxious, then I wonder at what age were you brave enough to watch Jurassic Park.

More like “I’m not going to give Blizzard money for an introduction that was really baaaaaaad”. You sassy Hozen.

You must have not played a lot of expansions lol.

Or you guys consider WoW to be something else than blood and thunder.

You get upset that I compared it to Disney yet you agree in the next sentence that it went away from the grimdark stuff and gets too bubbly in certain places?

Mushrooms don’t cost 50 euro mate.

I don’t like the whimsical childish stuff and now I’m the child for voicing my opinion about this?

Mate, can you reread what you just said?
I’ll correct you though.

“Man is angry that his beloved franchise about blood and thunder, the drums of war, has been taken hostage by a fanatical group of people who insist the game has been like that all along, while the next thread there’s someone taking offence to the DK quest line being too dark”.

It just doesn’t add up with you people.

I know the story is bad because I played it. No wonder the sales are so low. Shadowlands was their best seller so far. I doubt they can eve rhope to recreate this success.

Brave enough? Why would I need to be brave to watch something like Jurassic Park?
I don’t get scared watching movies, never have. Startled because of jumpscares, sure. But not frightened. I’ve been watching horror and such since childhood.
Also: I’m not young; I was 16 years old when Jurassic Park was released. I had read the book a few years or so prior and was very psyched to see the movie (the book was better).

Anyway; I love seeing more upbeat and whimsical things in WoW for a bit. After the depressing gloom and dread we’ve had in Shadowlands. I don’t get people who want WoW to be this serious and depressing place. I really don’t.
