Yep, just tried it, still not fixed, Day three, and still Blizzard’s response is deafening in its silence. I’ve checked into the legality of this, I actually pay my subscription for access to Blizzard’s servers, so you can’t demand recompense in terms of time, however according to a friend who is a lawyer specialising in the more up to date aspects of paid services over the internet, whilst at the -moment- this is a bug and an inconvenience, because access to the servers is the commodity being paid for, the very instant you actually pay for access to the servers, but are not given access to the servers, the company you have paid is in breach of contract. So if you are part way through your sub, it is a technical fault, but if your sub renews when the company is aware that they cannot provide the service they are taking money for, then that is where things get interesting, legally they are committing an offence, in accepting financial gain for a service that does not exist. Fraud basically.
So today is going to get interesting. If they do not fix this problem, given that my Sub is due to be taken in the early hours of this evening, they may well be breaking EU corporate Law if they attempt to take a payment.
Given that the procedure is automated, I am 99% sure they will attempt to take a payment, at which point this becomes an offence, rather than a technical glitch, at which point I theoretically can take legal action, or make their failing publically known and reap financial restitution that way.
I’d rather just be able to play, to be honest, but if they take penny one from me without being able to provide the service they are charging me for, I am going to be all over this like a Seagull on Chips.
I’m curious. What kind of set up is this?
Is it just all Windows PC’s on a typical home network(wired broadband, shared via a router) or do certain PCs connect differently? A lot of comments about how people can log in from another PC/Device in their home but very vague on the actual details…
The same error day 3 (WOW51900328) we have paid a subscription service and are paying monthly for it and yet your taking our money and providing no service i want my three days added for the trouble caused at least because this should have been resolved within the first day i am in the EU AND not using a vpn and cant connect to the same server my pals are playing on that live 20 min away their is no fix until blizzard get it together and fill the community in.
Adding a data point. linux fix suggested on this forum solved the problem for me both on classic and retail.
Internet connection: Android hotspot

Come on Blizzard, for goodness sake. It is readily apparent that this problem was caused by the response to the DDOS, so just tell us what button you pressed that made this all go belly up, and what you will do to fix it! It is day three now, and -Still- no update!
I mean, First thing I will be doing is opening a ticket to get the rewards for all the Emissary quests that I have been prevented from doing, Second thing will be opening a ticket to get Darkmoon Faire extended so that I can do it on characters who are missing the chance to do so due to a Blizzard Error, Third thing will be opening a ticket to get my Unshackled, and Rustbolt Resistance increased on a pro rata basis that I have been working on in the days before the DDOS. Only fair, right? I mean they would not want to punish a loyal customer of such long standing, for a mistake at their end? Surely?
Internet Connection: (Wired Broadband and Mobile)
**ISP: Turkcell
**Does a VPN fix the issue for you, if so, which one? : Yes. ExpressVPN Is this affecting both Live and Classic connections? : Live and BattleNet Desktop Application and the entire EU Blizzard websites.
It is so weird that only certain ISPs are affected by that while other have absolutely no problems.
Blizzard has set a naive mass-block for all linux users due to some alledged DDoS attacks. To connect you have to change your “OS network signature” or wait for Blizzard to revert the block.
For more details see the gamingonlinux article no. 14967
TLDR:
Linux users. Run the following:
Before launching the game: sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ip_default_ttl=128
After quitting the game: sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ip_default_ttl=64
Yeah, I’m on Windows, been constantly unable to log in since the DDOS, this is utterly shoddy service. Nothing else is effected, Just WoW. Thy really need to step up their game, and -COMMUNICATE- with their paying customers. This Silence is almost as maddening as the broken game is!
Win10, Tried reinstalling, using freeware VPS tunnel - nothing worked.
I was also annoyed with Blizzard for lack of problem-solving after the DDOS attack. However when I tried another computer I got in without issues - so for ME it was a local problem even though it looked like it was a serverside problem.
Pls understand this error can come from MANY different causes, so there is no universal remedy that Blizzard or anyone else can supply. You just have to try different suggested solutions until you find one that hits YOUR spesific problem.
For me I had to go into regedit and adjust a TTL (time-to-live) setting for logon.
REGEDIT
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
Then I adjusted the key DefaultTTL in the right column from 40 to 128.
That solved the problem For MY Computer
Try it out to see if it solves your problem. Good luck.
Having same problems in uk, try to login to retail and disconnects, login in to classic and get to the realm list, select one and then it disconnects.
No idea what to do, how is this even happening? I look it up online expecting some problem but no nothing, glad i found here with other people all having the same problem was starting to get pretty frustrated doing the exact something every time because apparently theirs no problems currently happening with wow or blizzard.
But with no news from blizzard at all it really looks like no more wow for me or us as ridiculous as that sounds. That’s how its beginning to seems to me.
I’m using windows 7
I’ve tried changing the TTL in windows 7 using a guide found on google still doesn’t work.
If Blizzard aren’t claiming theirs a problem and I can’t fix this by fiddling about with technical things that you have to look for here and there and not actually know what you are really doing sometimes then I and others are not going to be able to play wow anymore.
If you have windows 10 the solution in the post two above this one seems to be working for most (changing your TTL(time to live)
Concerning many players could not log in and one of your staff members offered solution that actually works. But, in order it to work as intended, people need to follow the exact steps which I will provide here (for Windows). Here we go.
Restart your Windows PC
Find “Command Prompt”, right click on its icon and pick “Run As Administrator”.
Paste next command line:
netsh int ipv4 set glob defaultcurhoplimit=128
and click Enter button on keyboard.
Enjoy World of Warcraft
P.S. It’s very important to firstly people restart their machines and then to run the command line as admin (btw, they will be prompted to do so anyway if they type or paste the command without administrative rights).
