Cannot login in on Main Character - "World Server is down"

Hi,

I cannot login on my main character, and haven’t had such a weird issue in 18 years or so playing wow.

The only error I get is the character loading into the last dungeon it was in, which was Court of Stars (from the background of the loading screen), then back to character selection with “World Server is Down”.

I have followed all suggested steps as per here https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/10660, which suggests:

When I use the “move character service” as instructed in the first one, I am told " Oops! It looks like something went wrong"., then I get a customer survey ticket asking me to report on the “successfully resolved” problem, which is woefully ironic. It then instructs me "

I have no addons available at all now after following step 2 from the aforementioned link above, but I cannot upload a screenshot here showing this. That is, the “addons” option on login where you choose your character is completely gone.

All my other characters seem to work fine, apart from my main character.

I have been through all your “Contact us” support options, and unless it is a “cannot connect” or “financial problem”, there is no way to contact a human about in game character issues.

Can you please help me with this.

A UI reset removes addons. Check your recycle bin for the folders WTF and Interface.

If you look closely at the page for the move character service there is an option to open a ticket.

The thing is this usually resolves itself after some time. Occasionally a PC restart can fix it too.

So I fully understand what a UI reset does, I was simply confirming that I now have no addons.

I never soft delete things, the recycle bin is kind of a nonsense.

I did open a ticket, but it was sadly for connection issues, not account issues.

I regularly restart my PC and always turn it off over night. This is not a client side issue, or if it is, it is not something under my control.

It is still not resolved.

I have this issue also and have tried everything suggested including restarting pc, renaming the files and trying to open a ticket which is a circular route to madness.

After all of this, it is still not resolved and I can not seem to get any feedback on when or how I can play my main.

This is definitely an issue on their side as evidenced by the NA guys I found having the same issue, and now yourself. However, the fact it is so hard to contact a human, and as you say the route to get help is purposefully obfuscated, is extremely frustrating.

I managed to raise a ticket here, under “Account”, and “Not listed here” via this link:

Whether I will get a response or not remains to be seen, as the same one I opened under “connection issues”, was marked “answered” with yet more basic steps to get connected to the game. I appreciate that is not the exact issue I am having, but I did not see this account “not listed” link until today.

I suspect that despite having followed all the listed steps, the response will be to simply follow those listed steps…after which case I will open another ticket.

Just remember to put what you have done so far to fix it in the ticket or they will ask you to do it again.

Yes, I basically listed exactly what I did here, with screenshot evidence. But as per the 3rd NA link from my original post, many people are having this problem.

Having worked in CS and tech support for an internet company, I know people get annoyed when you tell them to do stuff they already did but didn’t mention that they have done in their email or ticket.

My personal favourite was asking them to look at the phone socket and tell me what was plugged in and the phone goes dead because they have unplugged everything.

Update: My character has now been moved and I can login. I hope the same applies to you soon!
