I don’t understand Enchanting.
I’m a level 50 mage. I’ve got my Enchanting skill up to 35 by disenchanting things.
So, I want to do the Minor Health bracer enhancement. I have a runed copper rod and a lot of Strange Dust. I open the Professions/Enchanting window and click Bracer Enhancements/Minor Health. When I click Enchant nothing happens.
Why is this? I can enchant wands and rods OK, but I can’t apply any enchantments to gear slots.
Are you trying to put it onto a pair of bracer? Unlike wands and rods the rest of the enchants is not a new item you create but a bonus you put onto other gear.
Sorry - don’t quite understand that! Are enchantments applied to a specific bit of gear, or to a slot so that they apply to any gear that’s equipped into that slot?
In either case, how do I select the gear or the slot that I want to enchant? There’s nothing in the Enchanting window which lets me select this. I’ve tried dragging gear into the window and highlighting slots, but nothing works.
Enchants work on specific bits of gear not the slot. When you select the enchant you want to use and click “enchant” the cursor should change. From here you select the item you want to enchant (be it in your bag, on your character screen or in the trade window) and it should apply the enchant to that item
Aha – that works!! Thank you very much. I’d tried many combinations of clicking and dragging, but not that one. And I’ve never seen such a basic thing covered in any of the on line guides.
