You can target people you would otherwise never know were there, how can you justify that? You can literally be behind a wall without anyone being able to see you, and still be found.
And there were similar mods back in the day. Ill repeat it again seeing as you are too lazy to read.
At most spy will notify you a stealthier is nearby IF THEY STEALTH NEAR YOU.
It does nothing if they come from out of the range of the combat logs.
And even if it does let you know a stealth player is about, you cant instantly hit them. They still get the opener, which as a rogue in vanilla, if you cant use your opener at an opportune time to take someone 100 to zero, the issue is with you, not the other player.
Its like talking to a brick wall, no it wont let you see through solid object, no it wont show the person on your mini map.
Try using it instead of making it obvious you have no fecking clue what you are talking about.
That it cripples stealth classes is debatable.
Like I said, it only detects actions performed by enemy players within range. So you can go into stealth, which notifies your target (we’ll assume it’s within range), and that’s it.
They can’t see or target you. All you lost is the ability to take someone who didn’t already see you by complete surprise.
And I can’t speak for everyone, but I sure as hell stayed on my toes whenever I saw a rogue or feral without needing Spy to tell me to.
I’m leveling my rogue right now, and if I want to kill someone (or try to, anyway) I simply wait a little after going into stealth.
Oh I am using it. And yes it does allow you to detect players in your vicinity regardless of LoS. Any action you take that can be seen in the log, which is basically everything, will give away your presence. The log does not take LoS into consideration.
Na. It requires no special skills or understanding to create a combat log with filters. I can write down the steps for you so even you and a kodo can create a combat log.
Creating a combat log was often recommended and described in PVP guides in vanilla days. It requires no rocket scientists.
Learn 2 read. I said it wont let you see through solid objects. Yes it will still let you target, but last I checked mages cant track humanoid and cant send a pet to find out where someone out of line of sight is.
I can do these things, but if my enemy can’t it’s a fair advantage over him, the addon is giving a powerful tool that like I said before messes with 2 classes core strategy way too much.
Yes I read post above I understand it won’t tell about me to the player if I stealt far away but it is still a powerful tool.
Tell me any other “addon” that messes with 2 classes core strategy other then this one!
It would still require you to pay attention to the log, regardless. This addon takes that away and make sure you will never miss anything. This was direct @Overcomb.
Any addon that shows enemy castbars.
i’m starting to think the
extensiveness of the combat log is the problem and not the Spy addon.
It makes no sense for a combat log to tell someone that doesn’t interract with you what your actions are. The spy addon just uses this information so well that it becomes unfair in some situations. I was literally hiding in a small room (which i ressed in) in Stormwind City when suddenly a voidwalker ran up the stairs and starting attacking me. Two seconds later a search and destroy party followed suit.
I doubt that in a normal situation people would have looked at their combat log while doing their chores in Stormwind City. Spy addon just made it too convenient.
Casting animation is shown in game you see it when your enemy is doing it, but you can’t know I stealthed behind you on the other side of a wall or in a small building unless you keep a close eye on the combat log.
That is why this addon is messing up gameplay too much for Rogues and Druids!
Tell us this core strat your so worried about.
You still get to choose when to attack the person. Can they spam some aoes for a bit to show they know you are about?
Yes, they can and you can stop being a back stabbing git for 30 sec till they get sick of that and move away to attack a mob or think your not interested in them.
Stealth classes unfortunately are mostly played by a certain player type, forgive me if I have no sympathy for you.
Roll a stealth class if you want to sneak around capitals, simple, not hard to understand.
I certainly wont run into ogrimar or undercity with my non rogue or druid and expect no one to find me on the map.
Your reasons for asking that they remove this mod are a joke.
Yes that is obvious, but i am not worried about how can I use it. I am worried how it can be is used against me I use it to keep track of horde zerg groups. But since they have it to, regardless of they can see me or not, they can quickly search the area and track me down. Sure in a balanced and normal populated server this might not be an issues. But as the PvP server situation is now, this addon helps track down players that is not even visible, and getting a hunter in a 10 man group should be fairly easy. This helps kill every possibility that you can level, even if you are out of sight.
lol seriously?
Well it is being invisible in stealth without needing to worry too much about how far I stealthed exactly!
Great example:
Does not require that much attention. Put the log anywhere on the screen. If it starts flashing red you know you have enemies nearby.
I agree the addon could be more convenient for some people. Some are GUI users, others prefer the terminal.
Roflmfao
Seriously? Oh noes I cant run right up behind someone and stealth at the last second without them realising I’m there!
And your great example takes a non stealth class QQing about how they cant sneak around a major city filled with a lot of opposite faction.
I am getting a good chuckle out of all your non existent points.
Come on now that is just being a d*ck!
I play on PvE server anyways, and I like Warlock too, gonna judge me about that too that I must be an evil person because of Fell magic?
But castbar addons let you time interrupts/los/FD/Vanish/etc way more accurately, and let you determine if something is worth interrupting. That’s information you would only get from the combat log otherwise, and a significant plus against casters.
Also, you’re implying that a rogue’s core strategy is ambushing completely unaware players, not stealth. I disagree.
A rogue’s (and feral’s) core strategy is being able to choose their fights and when.
Basically, yeah. Without Spy and similar addons, there’d be a limited number of players using the combat log and having that advantage anyway. I’d say Spy levels the playing field more than it skews it, since it makes that information widely and easily available.
