I tried to restore my rogue today and I’m getting this message:
There is already an active character with that name on this realm. You can’t restore this character at this time.
Anyone with the same issue?
Did you just create a new char with the same name? (i.e. tried to move a name from an existing char to a new char)?
As far I know this doesnt work anymore, you will have to delete your new char - unless other have a workaround.
I did not make a new Character with the same name.
This is what Blizzard tells us:
This error means another character with the same name already exists on your realm. There are two options to work around this issue:
- If the character with the same name belongs to you, you can delete the character that has the name. After the deleted character’s name is no longer in use, you will be able to [undelete your character] as normal.
- If the active character that holds the name belongs to another player, then you must choose a new name for your deleted character: you will be given the option to rename, at no cost, during the undeletion process.
Customer Support are unable to assist with undeleting a character, or releasing character names.
Thats faqed. Seems to be bug. Thx for posting this we will be careful about deleting characters now
And I assume you DONT get the option to rename your new char. That’s a bummer.
Yeah, no option to take a different name.
