Nah, Sylvanas over time just became a very one-dimensional character, but after mishandling Vol’jin and making her Warchief her evil villain moustache grows longer every patch because that dastardly woman has done another oopsie.
There’s some toy or something that makes everyone look like pirate ghosts, or sailors, and there was basically someone standing next to Sylvanas, even though no one is there. Was a while ago, can’t find it.
I see other two disadvantages for the idea with Sylvanas. For me, she seems more like Garrosh instead of Arthas though. With Garrosh, everything was cool and interesting. Repeating it though - well, again horde, again twisted and corrupted warchief …
(Now I will get bombed with hate) But if they want to apply this idea, it should have been much more original and impactful if Anduin just went to be some sort of Shadow Priest like auchenai or kabal. Then Alliance should struggle and the impact over Anduin as a character will be much more significant.
That’s pretty much been the issue with the story. This was touted as an all-out Alliance vs Horde war. Instead it’s Horde vs Horde with the Alliance as the (and friends) along for the ride because there is no conflict on their end.
Baine is simply a traitor. While he does uphold his sense of Honour and right/wrong, the core of the Horde is not Honour, its sticking together.
Baine acted alone and in secrecy (and I seriously wonder how a Tauren thinks he can act subtly) , and that is not only out of Hierarchy to his Warchief but also defiance towards other Horde leaders and nations.
Doing the right thing but in a wrong way, is a logic we already have in Sylvannas, so it makes no sense to act in such manner honestly
He’s not a traitor in my view, but that depends on whom you support.
Sylvanas needs to go and every effort to that end is just.
That said, being friends with the leader of a faction that is actively killing your people even outside of open war (there’s always conflict, even during Legion) is unwanted and hypocritical.
So no, he’s not a traitor - but he’s a mediocre faction leader who needs to get his priorities straight… but that’s the power of plot and lore, isn’t it.
Only we’ve moved past that and added Belves and Goblins to the mix which creates a new dynamic of co-existing and all.
Even Lok tar Ogar means Victory or Death there is no honour in any of the words. Orc Tauren and Troll who are seen as the classic Horde races do value Honour alot, but they are not the current Horde alone.
Plus you only need take a look at the other side to realize that if Honour always did the trick the Alliance wouldnt have SI:7 and damn Shaw and all.
Being philosophically romantic about Honour is nice and all, but on a pragmatic level it just doesnt work
