Hello, I’m not an old player like most of you guys. I have met with WoW at the end of Lich King exp. I felt like I was born horde and went to undead of course. The atmopshere of undead zone was suuuuper amazing. Never thought of going to play alliance since then. With legion launch I went with Demon Hunter but there was still an undead spirit inside of me, I quit wow when they changed Demon Hunter’s gameplay (nerfed momentum). So classic launched and I wanted to try it for the first time in my life and went horde undead as it was my only option. Atmoshpere was still awesome, undercity is super cool and all. The game is great too.
However I got one problem. In retail horde’s capital cities were improved, looking more cooler etc. But in classic both mulgore and orgrimmar looks like refugee camp. Then you look at alliance capital cities.
Stormwind is a well done big capital city, you can feel the lore inside of you.
City of ironforge is an amazing looking dwarf city. When you inside of it, you feel like you are having a middle-earth experience.
Darnassus is holding so many elf secrets. I mean you are in elf place, what can you ask more. All those trees, wisps it’s makes you special so much.
I mean I’ve never played alliance before but in classic I decied to reroll alliance just because of that. I truly wish horde had great looking cities as well in classic but nope, I feel absolutely nothing staying in mulgore and orgrimmar.
well those of us who played warcraft 3 frozen throne “Orc” campaign have a special place in our hearts for Orgrimmar… and like Whipsey said; they pretty much ARE refugee camps… something anyone who played Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos knows, as the entire Orc campaign is literally about finding a new home for the Orcs, whom coincidentally run into the Tauren who are seeking the same thing as they are being pestered by Centaur raiders day and night.
I recommend picking up WC3 (Or remastered when it comes if you are not into older graphics) and playing it.
Classic/vanilla horde are refuge/scavengers. Tauren were migratory-type and orcs are not native to azeroth. Troll situation is just comical and undead’s home city is just old ruine human city where they decided to dwell on sewers.
Undercity has always been weird to me. Its basically the sewers of old Lordaeron, but I cannot for the life of me comprehend who would build sewers this large and fancy.
It is kinda of shame really. City of lordaeron would have been much more pleasant city, even with ruined buildings and plague instead of sewers.
Since it should have been similiar to stratholme and scholomance designs.
Only explanation for why not as far I recall was that plague had destroyed it. (As it did in bfa) but we still have plaguewaters in sewers so…
Also it is well known they finished alliance cities first and then kinda did rushjob on horde ones, part of reason why in vanilla horde was not that popular until people figured out racials.
The capital cities are the are the reason I never actually roll horde. I’ve played it once with my best mate who absolutely loves the lore behind the horde and prefers UD. However I freaking hated all of the capitals, especially undercity. TB felt like I had to go up 10 lifts, to go across 3 bridges, down a ramp, over a rope ladder and down 2 more lifts to reach an NPC I needed. OG was just a hastily built long *ss corridor that seemingly had no sense in its design either. I suppose the same could be said for IF really, but a circle is far easier to traverse
