Casual bg players. What is our future in SL?

So after the last changes in shadowlands what is our future?

I only like bgs in the game. Log in, queue in unrated and play. Rinse and repeat.
EVery night play 60 mins unrated content and log out.

What is the chances now for getting good gear for unrated bgs? What would you suggest?

I plan on playing as I normally would.
As soon as the gear I’m earning becomes useless in the the content I’m playing (‘I deserve to one shot you, I killed a dragon using time & effort!’) then there’s no reason to keep playing.

Dabbled with the idea of XP-off at 59 (or level a char to 49 & XP-off) just so I can be competitive in the game mode I enjoy playing without fighting an uphill battle in an arms race that I don’t care about. tbh I’m finding better things to do with my time.
Just feels like they’ve taken my cash & slapped me.

How would you rate in unrated bgs your gear as “useless”

I’d call it when the disparity is so large that skill becomes irrelevant.
If, even through flawless play, someone is numerically immortal to me, then why even try/queue/sub?

What about you?
Carry on spamming bg’s or move to rated/M+?

Or… you could put in the effort and do some pve to grind gear so you can then stomp that new guy that you once were too like everyone else does! - Kappa.

On a serious note after watching today’s pvp gearing video by Stoopz I feel like there’s hope in staying competitive in BG’s just by spamming BG’s, lets see what happens.

It’s depressing that that seems to be the fostered mentality.

I’m pessimistic, but we’ll see.

It does indeed seem to be up in the air at the moment.
I don’t have the capacity to wrap my head around what he’s saying throughout the entire video, and there’s the chance that he’s not seeing the whole picture, but my personal belief as of now is that unrated gear will be entry-level, and the difference between someone who does rated PvP and someone who doesn’t do any rated PvP will be significant.

That is also my impression. Change is not good for casuals

I don’t understand, how is the change described in that video not good for casual players? Casual players will be able to spend 2 different types of currency that they will earn via playing BG’s to buy and upgrade gear to ilvls competitive to those of gear obtainable via mythic pve. Did I misunderstood anything?

My takeaway from his video was how to upgrade rated gear with the new honour currency?
idk how it relates to casual bg players & unranked gear.

That’s not rated gear though, everyone can buy that gear, it’s not got a rating requirement and BG’s reward with conquest which is the currency used to buy that gear, obviously earning conquest from BG’s surely will be slower than earning it via rated pvp but it looks way better than what we currently have. We will have to see exactly how it works in a few days.

Oh, then idk.
It looked like he got some loot from the weekly vault (which unranked don’t have access to?) then explained how to upgrade it (2:30-3:00).
We’ll see!

Nop, you get the weekly vault chest with honor now so you can get it by just spamming BG’s, however I just re-watched the video and realised 1400 arena rating is required to upgrade the gear past a certain level so there’s that… getting 1400 rating in arena is easy but means people will need to actually step foot in arena.

So this is wrong?

Great Vault PvP Reward Requirements Changed

This is how the Great Vault PvP Rewards Requirements have changed.

  • Earn 1250 Honor Points in Rated PvP
  • Earn 2500 Honor Points in Rated PvP
  • Earn 6250 Honor Points in Rated PvP

Honor Gains from Rated PvP

On a fresh character on the Shadowlands Beta, you currently get:

  • 200 Honor from 2s Wins
  • 250 Honor from 3s Wins
  • 850 Honor for Rated BG Wins

Though these values are probably higher due to them being a first win bonus.

Arghh too many incomplete information spreading around. I don’t know if that’s wrong, the video and other posts only mention honor, not honor earned via rated pvp, if it’s honor earned via rated pvp then I suppose none of the changes benefit players exclusively into BG’s…

This is perfect they addet something verry good last night. WE CAN UPGRADE OUR ARENA GEAR with Honor. that means that bg-es have a purpose. u get your weekly arena gear from arena then spa bg-es to upgrade it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFMbGRYeBkk

But after doing so will we be able to upgrade . Or the upgrades will be limited based on the arena rating?

chek the video that i linked

I think (hope) you mean RBG’s.

It would be really good for Arena players if they could come into Random BG’s with their superior gear, farm people who don’t play rated Arena (& thus can’t get that gear) to earn a currency to upgrade that superior gear even further.

But I’m under the impression you’ll only earn the honour currency from Rated BG’s (&or Rated Arena).

  • 200 Honor from 2s Wins
  • 250 Honor from 3s Wins
  • 850 Honor for Rated BG Wins

Curiously (because I’ve never played rated Arena), when ppl first try to get some rating, are they pitted against R1 / 2400+ rated players?
If not, why not? ‘cause they are pitted against each other in Random BG’s, with little to no reward for winning.

(Not that I care about rewards (I play(ed) for the sheer joy of it) -but if the mentality is ’do harder content, get better gear’ then what do this pug & I get for beating a high rated premade in Random BG’s? …tokens towards gear a few tiers behind the ppl we just beat!?)

Casual gear for casual players sound about right :)))
