Yeah, the UI enhancements they started working on in Dragonflight weren’t amazing. But I think back then Blizzard’s goal was to provide improvements for new players, not replace addons.
Blizz are now trying to make WoW playable without combat addons at all levels, even Race to World First. So high-end M+ pushers and raiders are now the “target customer” for the Midnight UI enhancement project.
Do I think everything will be perfect at the launch of Midnight? I hope so, but don’t expect it to be so. But I’ll gladly tolerate a rough start if it means the game will be better in the mid and long term.
Never mind, watched a youtube guide and then I was able to use it. Just had to drag it into the place instead of clicking it. Good to have to watch youtube guides to figure out how this amazing system can work.
They have been on their anti-addon crusade for all of TWW. No improvements there either. It dosent matter how long to be honest. The VohDoo functionality is just 1 macro. That’s all.
But they fail to copy ONE macro into the game.
I mean… how expensive would it have been to pay the VohDoo creator some $$ to do a basic version for wow? I dunno really. But less expensive than pissing off half the healers of your community.
Nothing blizzard does is perfect at launch. But what does mid and long term mean? Historically, that means years.
And I will not tolerate years with changes this big. Especially when it comes to addons and UI. With out addon creators, THEY are responsible for delivering what addon creators used to deliver. In the correct timing they used to deliver.
Not years in the future.
So for example: People are whining that, after 2 seasons DB is still bugged. Will you tolerate the same for your UI? I dont think so. Because VuhDoo creators used to fix bugs like that in 1 day. Max 2. And that is what I will expect from Blizzard.
Man I really hope they clean this stuff up. They’ve taken the burden on themselves now, they need to follow through with it, otherwise it’s going to be an absolute disaster.
Not sure if they will. Blizzard may be forced into a hasty revert, which might then result in class reverts too. And the problem is if they muck it up, people won’t want to give them a second chance and the game is going to remain World of AddOnCraft for a decade or more.
Honestly don’t think they will revert on the addon changes. Overall it seems like more people are positive about it then negative.
I will definitely miss qol features like automarkers wa, but I’m sure I will manage without most of the addons/wa’s I have today. But I play far from optimal and don’t track most my buffs and procs anyways i just heal and hopefully people will live. I’d be more upset if I was using healing addons like vuhdoo, cell and healbot I guess. I just use clique to bind my spells (basically same as blizzards, just without the bugs and easier to use).
I dont use MMO mouse, just a regular mouse with 2 side buttons. I bind my healing spells to my mouse and it frees up keybinds for me for everything else. It’s how I have been healing since TBC (back then I used healbot) with healing spells bound to my mouse.
wow was on downspiral for years now - both DF and TWW were failures which kept mostly mythic trhyahrds and transmog / mounts collectors only - the only factor keeping subs up is classic .
but with game doing to … more and more people will just give up on wow finaly
at the end of day - blizzard is the ultimate wow killer.
People who are okay with this has never tried to heal on a higher level.
It is impossible to heal as a resto druid in higher mythics without a heal addon. Your hots simply aren’t showing enough, and if you, like me, prefer party close to mid in healer spec, you can’t do this.
The original UI is so simplistic and cannot be used in its current state in end game.
We know, that’s why the class changes are coming along with it. Several current classes are unplayable with the stock UI - even the new stock UI - mine included.
But don’t you think it’s problematic for your class to not really be playable unless you go to CurseForge… ?
Because the way it works is stupid anyway and doesn’t enhance the gameplay much if any at all, so might as well get rid of the mechanic instead of making a UI to track it.
