Exactly, that’s what I proposed all the time. We all have a wide range of opinions, which we need to respect. It was very unhealthy to let ourselves get baited. Discussions are okay usually, but here it just turned into a very bad swamp imo with personal accusations/attacks/etc. from both sides of the argument btw. I’m not taking sides here. Very sad, I hope future threads don’t get ruined by this behaviour, because it’s an important thing for the game.
Note to you:
You have kept up with nothing.
I label Him/Her as a troll because they keep ignoring what I say, they keep making empty claims, they keep talking about me behind my back, they keep being hostile, they keep claiming they are discussing when all the do is attacking, they keep quoting others while saying they ignore them.
You’re not trolling for enjoying FOMO.
You do whatever you do.
In why its loosing players yes. Same as all the E-sportism engame and borrowed power made WoW loose so many players to a literal anime game like final fantasy 14 back in BFA… If that doesn’t give you a hint. I don’t know what will.
True. Also, FF14 never invalidates its old content. This is something wow devs need to learn from, and since some of the current dev team plays FF14 themselves, they will probably listen. They actually adopted a lot of their mindset into dragonflight by acknowledging that we care about mogs, etc. We can see already how their design intentions changed since 10.0.5 and it’s brilliant currently. I love their direction right now. They are bringing back FoMo rewards slowly, which I like. I only want them now to really destroy boosting, or make it redundant somehow, so people don’t feel compelled to buy boosts, because I’m sick of having boosted players in my m+ groups. I think FoMo is already on its way back anyway lol.
Another thing I’d like would be player housing tied to professions, but not like WoD… However, this is for another thread in the future.
I’d say beyond FOMO, the biggest contributor to people quitting - is other people.
Terrible behavior drives people away.
It’ll always be a factor, sadly.
I wasn’t, that’s why I quoted you into the post. So I could put 2 replies in one post, to avoid making too many posts.
So rather than be willing to listen, understand and discuss, you decided to give up and label me a troll.
It’s how you use them.
I’m afraid, I extremely disagree with this statement. Although you have calmed down over the past 2 or 3 posts, I’ll give you that. You have been far than civil or friendly for the best part. The main reason you’ll remain on my ignore list.
I’m afraid that is the case. I’ve pointed out the anti-FOMO group are generally some of the most toxic players I have come across in the community. Whilst I appreciate that not everyone is guilty of that, it doesn’t surprise me when I come across it.
Boosting has existed since beginning of WoW tho, I’ve boosted people ever since Vanilla - on and off.
It’s hard to get rid of, since differating between Helping and Boosting can be impossible.
It becomes a norm in any thing you can gain + give in.
Yeah, but making it “illegal” with hard pre-defined sanction if caught, will reduce it drastically. However tho, we should discuss this in another thread, if one pops up.
Take me for example. I played through all the terrible expansions, including Legion and Shadowlands.
I still quit for BFA.
Why, you ask? Plenty of stuff.
Even more ability pruning, after the carnage that was Legion
Even more borrowed powers than Legion
No PvP vendors + no more Legion templates = forced to gear though M+ in order to compete in arena
Corrupted gear to ruin arena even more
PvE trinkets enabled in arena, for even more skillless RNG nonsense
Butchered lore, wasting 2 major lore threats who each deserved their own expansions
The list goes on.
People didn’t quit for BFA because of FOMO.
Hell, BFA had LESS FOMO than any other expansion in the game because it was the first expansion where they removed unique class sets. Also, there was no KSM mount in BFA.
So if anything, BFA needed more FOMO to be successful.
Sure, I got all the Mage tower transmogs on all classes and specs during Legion, and I have a few elite pvp sets. I feel good about getting them, but I don’t put myself on a pedestal and look down on those who weren’t “good enough” and didn’t play back then. I wouldn’t mind if those people got a chance to get those transmogs. I’ve always disliked FOMO. It leads to frustration and envy. New players are less likely to join WoW, and to be honest the game could really use more. I think elite sets that are at least 2 or 3 expansions old should become available again, but some effort and skill should be needed to get them, like winning games while at least 1800+ rating.
It was introduced in season 4, at the end of the expansion. So it can’t be the explanation for the expansion’s failure, since it was already pretty much over.
This mount is the ugliest things I’ve ever seen. I see people on the Shadowlands KSM mounts all the time. How often do you see that worm? Never. Because those who own it don’t want to be seen riding that thing. If anything, it’s an incentive NOT to play M+.
ok, this statement just isn’t true bro. Brutosaur mount had really extreme FoMo intention by the devs to sell tokens. The seasonal stuff was in the game. I think TBC and wotlk have the least amount of FoMo (neglecting Zul’aman), because you can get almost everything now afaik, no?
The coolest title in the game, “the Immortal”, was a WOTLK FOMO title.
Also, in TBC and WOTLK, FOMO existed mostly in the form of TCG mounts and Blizzcon rewards such as the Murloc costume and the Blizzard bear.
I think “champion of azeroth” is way cooler tbh personally, but such titles should stay FoMo imo, because those are really incredibly achievements, if not boosted. I only argue for +2 expansions old transmog and maybe mounts, but with mounts I can accept it more.
