I personally think Challenge Modes are one of the best things ever added to WoW. I sadly missed out on MOP Challenge Mode, due to my time abroad studying and being relatively young/clueless at the time. I myself started in TBC and have ever since played resto shaman on off whenever my IRL life allowed it. Time Walking atm has like 0 flavour, its just dreadful and really needs to be spiced up. For example by adding scaled Challenge Mode and retain their original difficulty. Ppl will then experience the content as it once was, but in the current class design.
I do understand those players who managed to complete their Challenge Mode in MOP and dont want to see everyone running around in something theyve got special memories of. To honor those who have obtained their class specific set all those years ago and acknowledge their challenge being completed in MOP, I came up with 2 ideas.
-
Players who complete the new Time Walking Challenge Mode will earn a FoS achievement that shows their challenge being completed during its Time Walking event. For example “Time Walking Challenges: Pandaria”.
-
Give players who have already completed the original Challenge Mode access to a recolor version of the original set.
A possible way to make this work, is to have a vendor sell all of the Challenge Mode gear sets. Players can purchase their class gear set for a token, that will be mailed upon completion of the Time Walking Challenge Mode.
However, in order to be able to purchase the new recolor set, the player would need to have completed the original Challenge Mode achievement. Like similarly is done with Gladiator pvp sets atm. This would encourage veteran players who have completed the original Challenge Mode, to participate a second time. At least if they want the new recolor set.
So everyone will still be able to get the old challenge mode sets, veteran players will also have a reason to participate and Time Walking will offer the best content that was added in previous expansions and removed near the end. Everyone will still be able to experience previous challenges. Lastly Time Walking events might actually be fun for a change, rather than an endless grind for a pretty mount with an impossibly low drop rate.
