I was really hyped for SoM 1. However I managed to roll a realm where it was almost all hardcore players that could not die. Which meant in the leveling process it would be borderline impossible to get groups for the instances.
Discovering this at level 12 I was kinda disappointed so I stopped playing.
Having learnt that lesson I am wondering if there is any leaks or likelyhood for a second season. I am thinking of Classic Era also, but I hear people raid log there and it’s also hard getting groups while leveling there.
It would seem to be a mistake for Blizzard not to start fresh, as it will only lead to people making private servers again and those getting more popular, which is the whole intention why Blizzard made the classic servers in the first place.
Any answers with some insight into this is appriciated.
I can just say that on the firemaw cluster ally side its not hard at all to get leveling groups, I havent had to look for more than a few min for a group for any dungeon I have done yet (allthough that might have to do with me being a warrior and willing to tank) and I have recently hit lvl 33. Right now there seemes to be a explosion of new players on era.
Classic isn’t a raider’s game - it’s best suited for those who level slowly and chill. The mindset - hit 60 then gogogo isn’t a good strategy to enjoy the game.
Thus said, I did roll on Firemaw era and there are a lot of players ranging different levels, and easy to find groups for dungeons and quests.
Thats me right there. I want to play the game as much as possible as back in 2005. I play to relax and for the nostalgia and of course the gameplay which is slower and “better” in my opinion. I am not into speedruns at all.
Just… give it a try There’s nothing on the forum that can give you the experience. I think that at least in the 1-15 level range (I’m currently 15) you’ll have a decent experience.
I’m not sure a SoM2 would be popular atm. Most classic players are either on ERA where they just started, doing the HC challenge, longtime residents like Barn, or are playing wrath atm.
In a year or 2, when wrath is over and done, and when ppl had their taste of cata (if it comes out) a new SoM would bring back the most players.
SoM TBC would be my wish, personally. One can only dream.
