Make people actually have to provide mats for their orders.
yes - the lack of mats is such a scammy environment.
I use an addon to remove all the scam listings. It’s a waste of time Blizzard allowing this.
It’s not remotely useful and the same scam artists list over and over.
The last blacksmith requests were some high-quality crafts, no mats, and 10s commission…
I am sorry but… You can pretty clearly see if they have provided the mats or not. There is a green checkmark if they have. The game literally tell you if they have provided some. Or nothing at all…
Just ignore the work orders that doesn’t provide the mats? Thats what I do… I am not paying for the costumers work order.
Yes but the question is why is it allowed in the first place?
It would make sense if the entire crafting system were different, but I feel like it went through several major fundamental changes before (and after) the release of DF and their main goal was to avoid pissing off too many people instead of designing something that actually makes sense.
Every work order that was on the work order system for my profession at the time I made this post did not provide any mats and the commission was nowhere close to enough to make up for not providing the mats, with many just putting the bare minimum.
It needs to be done away with. It’s just pointless.
I actually don’t know… No clue. But I could understand the rage about this back when the system launched. And crafters didn’t pay attention and ended up actually paying for crafting for others… But now? Not a clue
Maybe the initial intention was to give crafters work to do to level up their quality skill of the craft they made. But yeah
^^ This
It was a dreadful change, because 99% of the orders without materials don’t even cover the cost so the materials required. Let alone cover an actual tip.
Well the obvious answer is they wanted to create a situation where crafter A feels the order isn’t worth it but B (who has better skills) can create the requested quality with lower materials or in fewer attempts.
The problem is they decided to disallow specifying quality and you also can’t try recrafting the same order multiple times using your own mats. My guess is they wanted to allow this originally but as they went along they realized it would have too many implications such as: what happens if the crafter fails to create the requested quality? Should he be forced to pay back the mats provided by the customer?
Just guessing here but I think blizzard just wants crafting to serve its purpose as a gearing system, and would rather make the economy unprofitable and irrelevant for crafters than too expensive for buyers.
It would be a useful feature if these things were actually hard to get and therefore the procurement itself had value to a buyer of the item.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: For as long as crafting is so easy (buy on AH, press Craft All, sell result), it has no value and typically the price of the good you’re making is less than the price of the materials, making the profession useless.
Recently Blizzard has used rare and difficult recipes. I do not think this is the solution either, as the barrier to purchase is very high and the return can take months or even years to earn back. I think it has to be something per craft that’s a little tricky to come by.
They should have tied the AH into the public orders system IMO.
this is the first integration of the work order system
it will be improved in the expac
it wouldnt surprise me if it had more complexitity / AH merge
- you can filter " full materials only " in the filter option
Well there we go… Think you pretty much nailed it there xD I know when ive encountered someone smarter about stuff than me. And this sounds pretty on point.
It’s quite funny as well because at first we needed an addon to alert us that not all materials were provided. Later Blizzard actually made a pop up for this to warn players.
I just finished reading an interesting article about a wish list for Work Order changes in TWW and that was one of them. Whether the devs are paying attention or not is another story. I agree with most of it.
I been saying this for a long time and just don’t understand why they don’t do it. Would also simplify the system as in a recent post we had some one ranting about how complicated the system was for them.
What I personally would like to see is a link to the AH which makes all materials mandatory to be suppled as well as the ability to set the rank for public auctions so you don’t get rubbish back.
But what if I don’t wanna and just pop in an extra couple of thousand gold to cover.
Assuming your serious… At least check first that your tip is an actual tip… If your tip is lower than the cost the crafter has to buy for your craft. Your literally asking for the crafter to pay you for crafting your item for you…
Just provide the mats. Makes everyones life easier.
I am serious. I am also not a bawbag and know to put in a nice cover charge.
Just saying, your change means i’m putting zero orders on.
Then don’t put any orders on?.. Crafters craft for the people who do and wants a item.
We don’t care if your too lazy to go to the auction house your self and provide the mats. Especially if your tip isn’t worth it.
But if you provide a worthy tip. Then sure
