Character Appearance Change for Roleplay Servers

Hi all, I understand nobody in the muhclassicnochanges crowd wants a barbershop because they don’t want any changes to Classic (:man_shrugging:t6:) but i’m seriously missing the option to change my character’s looks as a roleplayer.

I understand if everyone is against having a barber shop implemented but i’d be willing to pay for appearance change at least.

However as a roleplayer it’s a really useful tool to tinker with character looks and I thought if the majority is against appearance change/barber shop then could it be at least implemented only on the RP server?

I’d like to think folk choose an RP server because they are interested in roleplay and they would also appreciate the option to change their character’s looks as and when.

So I am just asking for this option to be considered to be available only on the RP server. Please Blizz? :pray:t4: :sob:

what makes you think that only rp people want/are allowed to change their appearance? thats asinine.

and just by the way, even the rp crowd has #nochangers. so theres that.

I’m pretty sure I did not say that anywhere in my post.

I really do wonder why people are against a barber shop.

It doesn’t make anything convenient. It doesn’t change class balance. It doesn’t change loot balance. It changes nothing about inventory or storage. It doesn’t grant any advantage.

I am amused by the image of a player seeing another player who changed their hair, and then screaming “HIS HAIR WAS DIFFERENT YESTERDAY! THIS GAME IS UNPLAYABLE! BLIZZARD RUINED CLASSIC!

If we do get a barbershop I’ll be looking forward to watching people freak out over players having a new hairstyle than actually using the barber myself :joy:

It’s really either just out of spite or because they just really need something to trigger their empty selves in their empty worlds. Or both.
I actually pity them tbh. I’d be quite embarrassed and probably consider therapy if I got triggered over something as trivial as this :joy:

Nothing about spite.

If Blizzard gives in to one group requesting a change, then other people will say how come they can’t get the changes they want? Once you abandon the #nochanges, more and more would be changed by Blizzard.

It sucks that I can’t change my appearance but we must have the original Classic, warts and all. Otherwise we will lose Classic.

I think some of them just enjoy complaining. Or pooping on people’s suggestions. Or both.

Sure some of them do have a genuine fear of Classic becoming warped, but others…eh, it’s clear they enjoy saying “NO CHANGES GO BACK TO RETAIL” a bit too much.

OK, so here’s my question:
Are you sure you won’t just get people rolling on your server who want to have barbershops but have no interest in RP? Because I feel like this is how you kill RP servers for good.

Hmm I don’t really think this argument flies. Blizzard isn’t a parent trying to equally please its children. They don’t have to be afraid that they won’t be able to go to bed because of a screaming child, or one child breaking the other’s new toy.

Blizzard can say no whenever they want, which they have aptly demonstrated for over a decade.

Also many people tend to forget that Classic isn’t a completely faithful remake of Vanilla. Some of the changes weren’t even necessary. For example you can display the party as raid frames instead, and as far as I remember this feature came in Cata. It certainly was not around in Vanilla at any point. You needed an add-on for that.

Yet somehow the die hard NO CHANGES people don’t care about a change like this, which actually has real impact on combat…but they foam at the mouth at the idea of a hairdresser npc coming to the game.

Ponytails are serious business I guess?

better read up then.

i heard a lot of rp people argue against this as choices, including your appearance, should be meaningful and matter. so better think long and hard if you really want your character to look like this before you create it.

allowing character appearance only for one kind of realm and not for the others will open up a can of worms noone wants to be opened.

and just by the way, not everyone who doesnt play on a rp server is all #nochances and they surely do want a barber shop as well. so better cut back on those blanket statements of yours.

The thing is if you rp a character for long enough, your character will change.

Maybe your character’s family died, and in his depression he stopped grooming himself so he ends up growing a beard. Maybe your character was forced to chop off all their hair as penance for doing a shameful act. Maybe your character was gravely injured and the shock from it made their hair turn white. Maybe your previously ultra tomboyish character begins to get in touch with her feminine side and adopts a more traditional hairstyle. Or maybe your character is a socialite who often changes hair to keep up with the latest trends.

People rarely look the same their whole lives, and this is true for rp characters as well.

Being able to change your hair can actually make rp far more immersive and meaningful.

And yea I agree every realm should have the barber if it does get introduced.

i am not saying that noone should be allowed to change their appearances im just stating what i have seen from serveral rp people on the forums in the past weeks to prove that even rp realms have #nochange people on it too as op made it sound like a barbershop is only useful or necessary for rp realms, which it isnt and only non-rp realms have #nochanges crowds.

everyone enjoys a change in hair colour/style every now and then, rp or not.

i personally dont care if they introduce a barber shop but if they do, they should do it for everyone or noone. i dont like the idea of playing favourites that is all.

if blizzard decides to introduce barber shops and everyone gets to change their characters every once in a while then great, more power to them.

Pretty much this, coming from someone who happens to be playing on an RP server. If barbershops become a thing, then please for all servers. If paid character services (i.E. appearance change) become a thing, same thing here.

That said, while there may be a big “no changes” crowd I highly suspect that character services (Namechange, appearance change, possibly faction change as well as transfers) will come further down the line. Primarily because this presents a great opportunity for Blizzard to monetize classic and if there’s one thing Blizzard can be relied upon it’s that they quickly forget about caring about their players opinions, if there’s money to be made.

NO CHANGESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS s

So people agree with you or they’re asswipes ?
You sound like an interesting person. I am going to give a lot of credit to your request.

Appearance changes, name changes, and server transfers are all services that should be in the game and that don’t affect gameplay when implemented correctly.

The only reason they are not in is because of the loud, vocal cave-man mentality group who are so dedicated to the game that they’re not quitting over whether someone pays to have their haircut anyway.
