Character auto deleted

I have been away for a long time but fancied trying out classic era, I had copied over old 60’s however they appear to have been deleted? Is there a way to un-delete them

If you copied them, they shouldn’t be deleted.

Care to elaborate a bit further?

Of course, before TBC launched I cloned my 60’s and logged in on them. I then played TBC but did not fancy Wrath so skipped it. Got a craving for wow again recently and tried to login on Classic Era and my clones have vanished.

You mean you payed for the cloning? In that case your characters should be on Era somewhere.
Are you sure you are selecing the correct realm from the right tab? (Era, not WotlK or SoM)

What realm were you at, and name one character - I want look if he is there?

It was just before you had to pay, can’t remember if I potentially had to pay to clone one or not. They were on Dreadmist. Harp (60 shaman) and Atkins (60 rogue)

Me and my friends also lost pretty much everything, together we all had a total of 2 characters left on era.

They told me they were sorry and understood that I was angry and that I should go write about it on the forums. We were informed via the ticket-response that we will not see the characters again however and that any further inquires about the characters could be seen as Blizzard employee harassment and THAT was something they could act upon.

So I did as they recommended and I tried for weeks to write about it on these forums and publish my evidence but nothing got past them… Every post got blocked/censored. Even my post regarding why I couldn’t post anything in regards to this subject was not published initially. When one of those finally slipped past their filter it of course had zero effect. Nobody cares.

Sorry for your loss.

I’d recommend private-servers, atleast there your characters are more safe.

If you paid for clones and they’re not there, I think that Blizzard may offer compensation though you’ll have to discuss it with them and if possible, also provide them with the pay receipt ID.

It should be in your order history.

Edit: For clarity purposes, this only applies if option 3 happened to you in this post below by Dottie:

Yes, they not exist any longer.

Is there a reason they were deleted? Sorry I have been away from WoW for a while so have not been up to date with all the updates ect.

Seems I cloned them for later, not sure what purpose there would be for deleting?

You mean like the 60 you are posting on?

When did you last play? Before TBC? If so then see below.

If you didn’t BUY the clone service then you had to choose between Era and TBC, if you didn’t choose up until the end of TBC then they were automatically placed on Wrath realms. Sounds like the latter happened to you as Blizzard would never delete characters.

And yes, wrath was the right place for them as Era realms were new as TBC started.

Before TBC came out they gave free clone to classic era (limited amount) and I used the clone on my Shaman and this rogue. This is the same 60 but the non-cloned version, untouched though since TBC classic launch.

I did use the clone feature and logged in on classic era realms back then.

I asking why my Classic Era characters have been deleted is all

Sorry but cloning was never free. You HAD to pay. You seemed to have chosen either Era or TBC, which was free.

Are you actually logging into the Era realms and not just looking at the realm list? Firemaw would be the one to look at, if they are not there then look at Firemaw in Wrath.

Edit: Blizzard do not delete characters except the Era ones if you didn’t choose Era or TBC in the 14 months as they were unneeded copies.

What do you mean by that? Cloning was never free - you always had to pay.

Before TBC was released they gave us an option to click a button and stay on classic era by cloning our characters, which I did. They remained level 60 while I levelled an exact duplicate of that character to 70 in TBC, the 60 remained behind on an era server. Those remaining 60’s have since vanished.

That isn’t cloning. That is choosing Either Era or TBC. Check in here: https://account.battle.net/transactions and see if it says: WoW®: Burning Crusade Classic™ Character Clone.

That means you will have them on both, otherwise they will only be on one, either Era or Wrath/TBC.

You still haven’t said if you have logged into the realm ingame to check.

Oh I see, so when I chose Era on my 60 shaman for example, why has it now been deleted?

Did you check the link I gave for the text I gave? you seem to think that you just got it on both for free, you didn’t.

You said you played it on TBC which means if you didn’t pay you only have it active on TBC/Wrath.

You had three options (maybe Four):

  1. Play the character on Era for free
  2. Play the character on TBC/Wrath for free
  3. Pay the £19 (£4 later) and have the character on both Era and TBC/Wrath. (Cloning)
  4. Do nothing, this meant your character ended up on TBC/Wrath during the Prepatch for Wrath.

number 3 is why I asked you about the link to see if you paid anything. The Clone service (number 3) was never free.

Yep, I’ve not paid for a cloning service. However I was able to play my character as a 60 on an era server and as a 70 on a TBC server at the same time.

So, however it came to be that I had two versions of the same character, I am simply asking if the level 60 version of that character has been wiped?

You are mistaken. You probably played it before moving it to TBC during Vanilla, just before you had to choose.
