Character Level Boost is overpriced garbage

As quoted in the Dragonflight Level 60 Boost Clarifications post from Icy-Veins:

The Heroic Edition of Dragonflight comes with a Level 60 Boost. In this post, we clear up some questions surrounding the boost.

  • The Base Edition of Dragonflight does not include a Level 60 Boost. You must purchase the Heroic or Epic Edition of the game to be granted a free boost.
  • A separate Level 60 boost costs $60 or 60 EUR.
  • The boost is granted to you immediately after pre-purchasing Dragonflight Heroic and above. You can use it now or save it for later.
  • The boosted character will receive Item Level 148 gear and 3 weapons, 510 gold, 4x 22 slot bags, 280% flying, 10 Tomes to change your talents, 5 health and mana potions, 20x food that replenishes health and mana.

Now, it goes without saying that this is complete utter garbage.

Previous character level boost was the same, don’t get me wrong, it’s not some kind of shocking news, but after all the drama going on with the company I thought that maybe they’d rework the boosting service, given the disproportionated price.

I am literally paying €/$1 per level just to have nothing else coming with the character, except some crap they actually give you as a sop.

There’s no catch-up with older content, and as older content I don’t mean 1-2 expansion, but literally 7-8, and literally nothing to make up with all that gap.

All that money is not worth strictly the time to just obtain the amount of experience required to reach the level cap only, it’s worth way more than that.

Here is what an actual character boost, costing more than the base expansion itself alone, should include:

  • FULL Item Level 300 gear, multiple sets and weapon choices according to specializations and required stats for full accessibility on every content, role and class flavour.
  • 4x32 slot bags
  • 310% flying speed training;
  • 2x profession of choice capped in every field and expansion;
  • All maps explored and all flight paths unlocked;
  • Old content catch-up completion: unlocked Balance of Power and Artifact Weapon appearances (exclusing Mage Tower), unlocked all expansions’ flight, full unlocked Garrison and Class Hall features, buildings, maxed out followers’ experience etc.
  • Capped reputation or 50/100% bonus reputation gain for each previous expansion

When I pay, especially this much, for a character BOOST I want to be caught-up with all the previous content, I want to only worry about forward content.

Is it just me or that price is just insane for what we actually get?

Am I asking for too much?

What do you think?

Boosts lost all value when levelling stopped taking 100 hours.

It’s not only that, regardless of the time required to level up manually, the only thing the boost gives you is the experience and nothing else regarding character progression and old content catch-up.

That’s the most disgusting.

A character boost should barely cost as much or less than the monthly fee, since level-capping a character takes less than a week now.

No that is to much! You can’t get ilvl 300 without doing the content. But entry ilvl for m0 would be good!

Sound legit!

No! It makes little sense!

Better to get acc-wide rep!

The point of level boost is to make Blizzard money. It is not overpriced at all because people are paying for it and Blizzard is making a lot of money with it. If it was overpriced people would not be willing to pay the price but they do. If nobody bought it Blizzard would lower the price. I don’t think you thought this through at all.

Maybe I did and I’m trying to raise awareness among players?
Make them understand that they’re paying too much for too little?

Yep, I’ve always thought that the level boost in this game was excessively expensive. The fact that they removed it from the base edition of expansions is a cheap move on their part in my opinion. Maybe I’ve missed it, but I personally don’t know of any game that sells level boost at a higher price than the expansions of their game, that’s ridiculous

The only rework that is appropriate is to remove it along with the token.

You know they can’t and won’t do that

They should reduce the cost of the boost tbh. It’s always been expensive but like they cut the value of what you get out of it significantly, used to be you got professions boosted and a tier 3 garrison but with the silly profession revamp they did that stopped.

As it stands I don’t really have much use for a boost bar maybe to skip Shadowland’s awful 10 levels. But that’s being turned into chromie time levels in two weeks.

It’d be nice to be able to buy the epic edition WITHOUT the boost to lower the cost maybe?

thats mythic fated gear XD

boost only gives levels not power levels. go farm content for the ilvls

or buy wow tokens and buy boost.

I do miss when you got 2 professions caps for every expansion except the latest one. I felt that was a bargain.

When they removed that , Was kinda scratching my head.

Everyone’s opinion here has the same value.

Where to even begin with this… Why would anyone care what others think of their hobby? Most people who would condemn playing WoW think the same about games in general. So what.

Yes, SL wasn’t an amazing expansion but it’s not a ‘horrible’ game by any means. The game still gets more updates than most other mmos after so many years.

LOL. I’m yet to meet an unemployed player. My best WoW friend is still a college student but that obviously doesn’t count. I’m sure those people exist, but “most”? C’mon!

Again, I don’t think most people opt for boosts. You should provide some statistics if you’re to make such bold statements about your fellow players.

Not to mention, you’re obviously subbed to the game and have more than 20k achievement points… are you unemployed? Why are you playing this horrible game so much?

if Bobby had a son i pritty sure he will be unemployed aswell becurse daddy has so muth money he never needs to work :stuck_out_tongue:

Most stuff is kinda overpriced. 30 euros for Faction change and 25 for race change.

30 euros is noting :rofl:

i have a very simple job that barely pays, and have to pay for medical expenses.

to each his own.

No, you’re right, it’s overpriced no matter your income. Saying 30 Euros is nothing for basically not getting anything new for it is trolling. If you use the services often it all adds up.
