According to comments on Wowhead, no, there’s no warning if you choose Saurfang. And you’re never given the option to switch from Saurfang to Sylvanas in the later quests. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it would be character-ruining, but I’m not an RP player so maybe that’s a bigger deal for others

Choice is an illusion, they dont matter in WoW

Kind of like TellTale games (Walking Dead, etc), all choices led to same outcomes for the most part and the same end.

You are so right. The OP typed that they did this on the first character to go through the experience.
I dont know about others but if I am doing an experience like that for the first time I will read the quest about 2-3 times just to take in the lore mostly.
perhaps and hopefully the OP will remember to read the quests the first time round…
To many just want to plow through them.

That’s what I did.

A choice should be given like this, not some obscure mechanic:

[1] I am loyal to Sylvanas, I decline this quest
[2] I am loyal to Saurfang, I accept this quest
