Characters cap, 50 isn't enough! Cap must be 168!

Theoretical, I want to be able create each possible class on each possible race.
Ok , you can say how long it will take. But I speak about possibility.
And I doesnt see any reason for limit. Why exactly 50 characters?
Why not 52 for instance? From my view point it must be exactly as much as game makes possible to try all classes with each race. After long calculation I found it must be 168 characters to try all classes with all races.

If you actually have enough time to create and use 50 characters then you certainly don’t need to be given the option to create more. 50 is excessive as it is.

I don’t see 50 as excessive at all. I’ve been playing over 10 years and have chars on a number of different realms, many from way before the realm merges. If you want to try each class on different races and then different specs within that class you can hit 50 pretty quickly.

Nobody within their right mind need every class with each race.

That’s straight up madness.

I am torn between my liberal ā€˜let everyone do what they want’ view and my compassionate ā€˜Blizzard have a social reaponsibility to not encourage their players to harm themselves.’

I think I’m going with compassion here, and if Blizzard raised the character cap above 50, how many people would suddenly see that as a challenge?

And if it really bothers you, nothing stopping you from having two accounts anyway.

Yes, of course I agree with the whole ā€˜ā€˜let everyone do what they want’’ thing, that’s my general take too.

But this is just… way too much. :<

Agree, and not healthy!

It’s kinda like…

On one hand, why shouldn’t you be allowed to do this?

But on the other hand, why WOULD you even NEED it?

Off the top of my head, just with hunters I’ve got Orc, Nelf, Pandaren, Belf. Locks I have Undead, Worgen, Belf, Velf. That’s 7 already, for two classes. I may not play most of them much but that’s not the point and only four of them are maxed with the others parked. I’ve a few RP chars dotted around too that I’ve no intention of levelling. Maybe there’s a throwaway culture that doesn’t mind deleting chars but I’m always reluctant to just delete something I’ve devoted time to.

168 is much. On the other hand, for people who played for a long time and have lot of chars for sentimental reasons, considering all allied races that has been introduced lately, extra 5-10 character slots would be appreciated and reasonable.

Yes, of couse, but that’s a reasonable amount.

Having 168 slots isn’t necessary.

I do agree 168 is an oddly specific number but a few more wouldn’t be unreasonable.

It’s specific, because that’s the amount you need to have every race with every class (that is available to each race).

Adding 20 more character slots sounds reasonable, even though to me personally, it isn’t needed either.

But who am I to tell people they can’t have many characters?

The cap is there because they don’t want to give you an incentive to create even more characters that you wouldn’t play and they have to store but even more important is they want you to buy accounts and what you’re asking to an extent is for them to give you 4 accounts for free.

Personally, I think that 50 is fine and I’ve been playing this game since vanilla although I don’t have so many characters so maybe they need to increase it a little to 60 or 70 but dunno.

p.s. Sorry Jessicka that was directed at the OP and not to you, can’t change the person you reply to.

Ah gotya. That of course would then increase further with the introduction of new races, allied or otherwise.

It’s not a case of being ā€˜needed’ though, it’s a case of being desirable.

No because making 168 characters to try all possible class/race combinations is a clear sign of mental illness that Blizzard should not foster

I suspect you’re spot on with that so it’s unlikely more slots would be added. For me, the realm merges negated a great deal of the problem as it meant having multiple realms to choose from and still be in the same guild/world space etc. Prior to that, the only option once you’d filled 11 slots was to pick a new realm which usually led to making new chars for the profs and so on. Particularly as a means of making gold to feed a ā€œmainā€ on that realm.

What about specs? I think you need around 500 not 168. (168 * 3 is 504 but that does not count for only 2 specs with Demon Hunters and 4 specs for Druids)

1x Forsaken Fire Mage
1x Forsaken Frost Mage
1x Forsaken Arcane Mage

etc

:stuck_out_tongue:

edit - there are 60 mage / race / spec combinations alone if you could Pandas as a horde version and an alliance version

edit 2 - there are 2 demon hunter races and 7 druid races so that makes a total of 509 characters needed … this should be the limit :stuck_out_tongue:

This is probably true however isn’t it possible to transfer characters between WoW-accounts bound to the same Battlenet-account?
considering an incative second account does not yield more money than a larger first account, I would suggest to offer additional slots as account services 5 slots for 5€ does not seem excessive and considering 50 should be enough for the vast majority I don’t think it would be an issue for the playerbase (it is a little more expensive than a second account, but you can keep it all in one if you would like to do so and if you want to switch you don’t have to reactivate the second account).

If this is the ground you want to argue on, I would like to add a time 2 for male and female and a times 3 for every spec (thank god this evens out ^^), so we are at 1008. :stuck_out_tongue:

Let nature take it’s course and Darwinism will thin out the weak.
