“Chief Engineer Scooty”

“Chief Engineer Scooty”

This quest has been confirmed bugged since September 15. I have been in contact with GM’s, who keeps telling me to write a bug report and that they are aware of the problem.

This has now persisted for over a month and a half, and we have not gotten any more information regarding this. I was intending to play as a Feral Kitty, but I am now stuck to mainly tanking due to this bug. The added (12 mins without epic mount) 8 minutes of travel time through Alliance controlled territory might not sound like much, but when your doing several (5x) runs a day and end up getting corpse camped on some of them, it really adds up to a lot of time. We’re talking hours per week here. If we even get there.

As a druid this is a serious issue that Blizzard has not paid enough (if any?) time on. You guys even released new content for publicity and to keep the streamers happy, but stuff like this persists?

i am severely disappointed in Blizzards actions when it comes to the amount of bugs, bots and gold sellers i report on a daily basis. This should not be a workload for me as a player, but it really is. I’ve read the quarterly financial reports of blizzard from 2018/2019. The trend of down-scaling costs in this area seems to still be going strong, so can we expect the service to stay at this rate or even get worse?

The vanilla taste in my mouth feels rather artificial at this point.

I and the rest of my group had absolutely no problems getting the goblin transponder when we went to do gnomeregan like a week ago.
Is this the bug caused by doing certain unrelated high level quests, as per a wowhead comment from 2007?

Edit: Oh great, there’s even one from 2006 with a GM response in it, in that case this is an authentic vanilla experience I guess.

They have not told me the reason this quest is bugged for some players, just that it is a bug and that they know about it.

Game Master Anithreadith said this:

"This issue is currently being investigated by our developers, and what would really help is for you to submit a bug report (if you haven’t done so allready!) This will send data to them so they can use it to find a fix.

I’m afraid there’s no workarounds for this at the moment, but i hope it won’t be an issue for too much longer."

This was several weeks ago, 4 weeks after i first reported the bug. Seen a lot of other druids complaining about the same, but no action has been done from Blizzards side.

This is just one of the 6 posts about problems not taken care by blizzard i will post this week, depending on the results I’m getting here, due too the amount of time I’ve spent on writing blizzard so far.

At some point it would just be easier to quit.

Wowhead comments say it stems from being on or having completed STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout’s Spyglass in searing gorge. Given that they were unable to fix it back then, I can’t imagine they’ll bother to now either.
Since the quest is probably flagged as completed for you even though you never had it, you might be able to ask Blizzard (even though it’s a different, more automated Blizzard now) to restore the item for you, as normally you’d be able to get a new one from just talking to Scooty but that probably doesn’t work when you never had the quest.

I guess you’ve been reading up on the same posts as i did when i first encountered the problem. Can’t say for sure that the problem lays there, but it is a possibility. I know the drill around the quests, items and the option to talk to Scooty should you lose your Goblin Transponder, but this seems not to be an option for me as I’ve been quite the menace for the GM’s trying to get this fixed and they have not given me any wiggle room when it comes to help me out with this.

Don’t take me wrong though, i really appreciate you taking your free time to comment and help me solve this. Thumbs up!

Bumping this!
