This might seem like a questing with a million different answers to it, but I thought I’d give it a try anyways.
I’ve been playing WoW since four months before TBC hit the screens. I’ve always had 2/3 different “mains” I’d focus on (but only one per expansion while the others then became my alt)
But! I’ve recently moved from Dragonflight and back to Classic Era but I can’t seem to “find my shelf” in this wonderful world of memories. I started leveling a mage - then lost interest around 28, then took a Warlock to 33 - same thing happend. Then a rogue to 11, and the rest is history.
I really can’t seem to settle down and it kinda bugs me. So I thouht I’d try to give it a try here - have anybody ever felt this way? And what did you do in that case? Did you just make a choise and stick with it?
If I play horde it’s 95% going to be a Shaman. For alliance I seem to gravitate towards Hunters or Rogues. I seem to always tame Cats finding someone to help with the white lion is usually hard.
Never felt it. I leveled in tbc classic, started with hunter and priest. Dropped them around lvl 20-30 (priest was cool, but I just mained priest types in every mmo I played).
After that played warlock and Druid which became till this day my favourite classes and I never backed down on them.
I also leveled mage but it was only funny because of blizzard with aoe talents. I just loved to level while gathering huge packs and killing them all at once. Selling portals was also funny (even giving them for free). But beyond blizzard and portals mage felt incredibly boring so I drooped it max leveled.
Well and I loved that mage could jump from any height and ignore fall damage with blink (slow fall kinda mess because of how long it is and you fly forward not able to control trajectory).
So druids and warlocks are my main characters from start. I would have probably mained paladin too if it wasn’t 1) only alliance in classic era 2)overhyped and overplayed in tbc and wrath. I just don’t like popular classes.
I have this issue with alts. My first character is usually the one that gets to end level, but the second one is an issue. For example my first* character in classic was an undead mage that i leveled to 60 and then never touched again. Next i made a dwarf priest and that became my main. But doing the leveling all over again for the same faction seems to become an issue around level 30-40.
Anyway, do you keep quiting because you struggle to stay alive and/or kill enemies? Classic can be tough and enemies a real pain in the bum. Classes tend to have some weak and strong levels. I really struggled with my warrior between lvl 35-40 for example. Sometimes you need to wait until level 40+ to unlock some really nice abilities that transform the character.
*My first character was an orc hunter, just like back in 2004, but when the queues became unbearable I moved to another realm and created a mage.
I know exactly what you are talking about. Sometimes I’m thinking more about which character with which professions will fit the most in the atmosphere of the game and my class fantasy. I created a google doc where i listed the classes in which i am interested and noted race and professions aswell. I guess it’s a curse for me and maybe I will end up with two or more characters hitting max level at the same time. I’m trying to share my google tabel here and give you some impulses to get a sound choice for your future character.

I do like you say here - always.
Some like beginnings. If you as me like beginnings, then make more alts.
After long time you maybe find your ‘love’ and stick to it. I did. Not this one
I feel exactly the same way. I tried druid, paladin, rogue, warrior and again druid. I am going to try mage next, just got very interested in the fantasy, abilities, class quests. I guess I should try priest and warlock as well. 2 classes I haven’t considered yet are shaman because eI want to play Alliance and hunter because it is not the most useful and powerful class in group content.
So my advice would be continue trying different classes until you find something you like. Era is not going anywhere so you’ve got a bit of time.
And remember whatever your class is lacking will be present in the other members of your group/raid. Sometimes we just forget that WOW is a MMO so we don’t need the perfect class but one we can play well enough to help our team.
What role do you want to be doing in a group content? Do you want hybrid class or focus on DPS only?
What content do you enjoy the most? Pick a class that is good at that content.
Do not be afraid to experiment or try something new. After some time you would have gotten a favourite without realising.
I feel like this always. same with professions, cant remember how many times i thought “damn i want to pvp on this char”, then dropped his profession to lvl up engineering once more . I think ERA is a good environment for people like us, content doesnt degrade so just go play something else for a while.
I tend to be a 1 character andy in all games I’ve played, so I’ve never been a big one for alts. Due to the nature of era and no rush I am levelling a Warrior on the side but tend to play my main (rogue in this case) 90% of the time.
