Clarification on neutral AH gold transfer ban

I play the Anniversary edition and recently decided to reroll tp Horde on the PvE server where I already have Alliance characters.
I want to trade over what little gold I have to my new characters but I don’t want to get a second account just for that, so I was thinking of doing it the old school way and using a friend for help.

My question is thus; will we get in trouble for this?

TLDR:
Want to transfer gold across factions using a friend and the neutral AH, will we get hit by the ban hammer?

Trading gold through a friend will likely land a banhammer.

However, trading gold with yourself using a 2nd account is unsupported which may land you penalties.

Very small chance. Blizzard tried to test new system with autobans for big gold trades in sod phase 2, but many innocent people also got banned for buying expencive BoEs or other things like this, so they disabled that system. Now chance that you will be banned for big gold trade is VERY small. At least i dont know about such bans after sod p2, so dont worry, you can do it almost without risk.

“likely” = 1% chance.

I’ve done this several time between 2019 and 2022 on my own accounts, though not in recent years.

Never had any issues.

I would never use a friend for this though and risk him getting into trouble. Get yourself another account and take that risk yourself.

I did this a few weeks back, bought an item off the neutral ah for like 40g and he then traded me that money. Honestly I think if we’re talking small amounts you won’t get in trouble, just don’t go trading hundreds of gold. He just wanted some starting g for some bags and a bit of a buffer, on a PVE server what’s the harm in that

I don’t think you can buy your own auctions. So probably need a friend.

True. You can’t
