Yes, definitely!
tl dr patch notes:
Right now you wouldn’t invite a priest to DPS your key for any reason. It’s doing tank damage, if you think that’s ok the only explanation is bitterness.
Whatever. I was not going to explain the whole 20 year history of BL. You get the point: It was an advantage the horde had that was too OP. So they gave it to everyone. And there is a reason for this. Its not just wellfare.
But at the same time, in Raids dispell mechanics CANT be cheesed. So if you get a raid-wide debuff that is intended to be healed through, NOBODY can dispell that. Not even the healer. So SP utility has never been a thing in raids.
They just forgot to implement that in M+. So you either nerf MD, or you fix the encounters. They chose the latter. But DEFENETLY you have to choose. Cant have both.
underperforming retri uhdk being buffed
now next nerf overperforming warlocks for entire season to come and this start feel familiar
Still tuning the wrong thing…
For whatever reason, dungeon design after S1 has put the healer as bottleneck - see large amounts of unhappy healers for S2 as evidence. Augmentation helps alleviate that bottleneck, meanwhile the group dps still tends to be “enough”.
If you really want to balance augmentation, either:
- Remove it’s ability to buff healers (and tanks).
- Rebalance dungeons so mobs have more health and don’t hit so hard. Make more dps checks and less healing checks. There are 3 dps after all, between them they have the broadest shoulders to bear the brunt of the work. The healer is probably busy handling affixes anyway.
Option 2 will have the happy side effect of bringing back a lot of the healers who swapped to playing dps because they took the blame for every failed pug run for the last 6 months.
still waiting for affliction buffs, every time Destro and Demo get buffs. Meta-Freaks dont take me for keys -.-
Honestly after what they were capable of in raids on ptr they kinda needed to do this and the thing you’re talking about.
The damage was obscene.
Cries in destro.
Destro’s 4pc is a 1% gain from it’s 2pc and it’s useless in M+. These buffs need to be bigger.
you got these from the 10.2 patch

Augvoker has a specific tuning knob for raid damage, that could have been turned in isolation without making them less and less of a support spec
By 11.0 it’ll be just a volcano flavoured dps where devoker is a fire and arcane flavoured dps. What a let down. Was excited for it being the first of several support specs, but it looks like it’s just going to get engineered away because nobody can be bothered thinking about how to make it work.
Don’t worry, the meta-freaks won’t take any of the Warlock speccs.
It was never marketed as a support role is the thing. It can do DPS by supporting and there’s absolutely ways for blizzard to go about creating that which isn’t what they’re doing right now.
However support as it’s own role just doesn’t exist. At the end of the day you’re either directing damage towards yourself, making green bars go up, or making red bars go down with your presence. There’s no secret 4th thing.
Support is a playstyle, and it’s one that absolutely can and should be able to be accommodated within WoWs class design. However it’s not its own role and the problems come when you try to treat it like one.
Is that change for raids only or it affects PvP/M+?
It was not marketed as a support role but a support spec which is allmost the same.
It exists in many other games. Support Roles/Specs support their group-members by increasing their power/output while also bringing utilty to the table and help them to survive.
There is a reason why Aug is broken… you cant balance it in the design the game has rn. And without other support specs its even worse.
Support specs and a support role cant work with the design we have right now.
Aug can be either broken or useless… it doesnt help that its easy to play either
the support spec as selling point were also weird phrase to use and then sacrifice season 2 as testing phase for “how support spec would impact the game”, especially when we already have support roles on the game since 2004, or i dont know what else they think shadow priests and retribution paladins and enh/ele shamans are with their team heals and utilities, to me this made no sense as we have support roles in the game atleast on pvp since vanil lol
The problem started there. Its NOT a support spec. Never was.
Its a DPS. So if you classify it as a dps you have to treat it as one.
So TLDR: You have a game designed for the holy trinity. You have to change the game FIRST and then implement a support role. Not the othe way arround.
So IMO: Untill they change the game as they should, I prefer that they get it over with and just delete Aug. They can bring it back again when they figure out how to make 1-1-1-6 dungeons and 2-2-2-6 raids work.
It wasn’t marketed as a support spec. We were told in an interview by the developer that made aug that it was a DPS spec. Sure it does that by supporting DPS but that doesn’t fundamentally change how it should be tuned / have it’s utility budgeted.
Except in WoW all DPS do this. We have raid buffs, off healing, group defensives, movement speed buffs, freedom effects. All DPS support their group. Aug isn’t special in that regard, just overtuned.
You absolutely can though is the thing. Give it a comparable amount of utility to other DPS specs, take away the ability for it to passively buff healers in keys, and tune it damage output appropriately.
If I swapped an aug for any other DPS in the group the total damage output, amount of utility options, and group healing should at least be comparable. Right now aug has 2-3x the utility, provides comparable damage to other DPS (It’s still ludicrously overtuned in raids for damage though), and outright buffs a healer’s output by 10-15%.
Oh wow that must make us move up and not be at the literal bottom of the dps list right? nope it doesnt, still dead last, it’s not even a 2% damage increase…
‘‘Augmentation is a new Damage Dealer role with a twist: they use the essence of the Black and Bronze dragonflights to amplify the abilities of nearby allies. The playstyle for this new specialization involves empowering your allies with a variety of beneficial effects. Some can be cast directly on your allies, while others are tied to using your damage-dealing abilities effectively.
Augmentation Evokers deliver their damage in a wholly unique way. They act as force multipliers, increasing their group’s capabilities (and damage output) significantly.’’
You can call it DPS as much as you want its by definition a support spec.
Except that most of these specs dont increase the output of their teammates by this much especially with such a big uptime. while also have a lot of other team enhancing abilities.
Read my quote above, blizzards intents that their dmg comes by increasing the dmg of others and in turn do less dmg themselfes. So while we can say they are overtuned indeed, this is what blizzard wanted the spec to be.
They dont even give shamans (ele/resto) an unique groupbuff, beside that shamans was original a support class. They dont care.
They would need to change the mastery, cut spells, shift their dmg entirely and rework its base abilities…You realize that the amount of changes it needs would be a complete redesign?
This would also go completely against the design blizzard wanted them to have.
