I just did blitz with 7 retributions on it. And theres soft algo trying prio other than same specs on matchmaking in same lobby. Imagine the amount of retributions there must be if it bends the algos parameters to let 7 retributions in same game. They all just happen to roll pala cause they always liked the class fantasy of course. Nothing to do with the fact that it was overtuned again. But demo got nerfed ![]()
I did 48 soloQ matches and only twice I have seen another caster.
Most of the time it is Arms, Ret, FDK or Rogue.
I see only arms, retri, uh, bm, sp, dh all day
I haven’t seen BM or SP. Maybe lucky me.
I rather see bm than mm honestly, atleast you can root or aoe fear the pets constantly but mm just keep taking your teams health in few shots, it dont even matter who he shoots, can just keep swapping and hit whoever can land a hit and it creates too much pressure. But dh and retris annoy me far more than anything else right now. The gameplay retribution can do to still make threat and affect the outcome of rounds is absolute tilting to witness.
I feel that Ret design is crossing the line because the amount of damage Ret does on range makes no sense in design stand point because there is literally no safe space with that spec. Like You can’t just use your mobility and get few seconds to cast or restore HP.
And the fact that ret is the least prioritized target in SoloQ among other classes speaks volumes about the sheer amount of survivability that spec has.
It feels like they just decided to slap training wheels on top of training wheels on it and then just keep buffing its dmg on top of everything else and never realise that hey this become quite easy to play for anyone no matter what xp, and its dmg is nuclear, also if able to play can make self and team unkillable for way too long to make rounds last forever.
I just feel that PvP team doesn’t know how many casters play outside of mages.
Because if we look at most arguments here on WoW forums EU/NA/RU and etc. you’ll see that every time when someone criticizes the excessive mobility of melee, melee parry that that without such mobility it will be impossible to fight casters and primary naming mages. Which is true, but what people miss about this is that not every caster plays and has so many insta casts or escapes like mages. And it only highlight the absurdity of design of the mages that forces devs to make melees like that in order to compete with mages.
Rest of the casters get only the numerical treatment which only leads to whines on the forums when we again find ourselves in situation where Destro or Boomy kill everything with one cast, or X spell of Demo starts to deal Y amount of UNREAL damage.
The whole lock design is outdated, its really clunky in modern wow and compare to how other classes play, theres so much “old” and clunky stuff on lock that are just senseless and have to do unreasonable amount of hassle with macros to get something done what other classes just press 1 or 2 buttons and they just crossed a map twice or gained some effect etc. If the dmg is not good there is not much reason to play it if can just play mage example or sp which is way better now than lock aswell. I cant even picture any new player picking lock and trying to make something out of it, they could just pick retribution and gain 2.1 and 2.4 later in season instead as somebody who start wow today ![]()
The only caster i have see in solo shuffle… Mage fire, frost, arcane. Let’s see today…
edit: today an ele and few shadow priest
p.s. I’m doing 1800 for the set, but then just shuffle it and I’m really going to cry
In reality, the current warlock design isn’t outdated, in the sense that if you took the gameplay/spells from ten or even fifteen years ago and replaced them with the current design… it would be a huge quantum leap.
It’s a gameplay that’s often broken in various situations and interactions between spells and CC
I’d like to know if it’s normal that a Hand of Gul’dan, three shards, cast time, and Shadoflame School should really do 600k damage in PvP. I hate to sound this way, but the constant treatment the class suffers is a complete disgrace
It really is though, warlocks defensives are potato compared to new designs other classes have for defensives, the wall is 3min cd for 40%, the bubble gets wrecking throw from any warriors in every shuffle with warrior 99% time. Its self heal with life drain were made moot to a point that drain life can be removed from hotbars and replaced with a healthstone on its place which serves same purpose as heal as every other class has some self heal on similar cd except mage which has none, warlock mobility is nonexistent compared to every melee or mage and evoker. Its way of making damage is ramping up hard casted spells also completely outdated in modern wow if you just look at any single other range dps and their design, ironically even retri paladin is better range caster than warlock now, the rest real range specs throw instant spells not stand there trying cast them. And what comes to the curses they should been baked in same ability long time ago having snare/atk and casting spd debuff work from same button instead of needing 3 separate binds for one to do something so trivial as 10% casting speed debuff, so yeah it is outdated. Look some new range dps for comparison to have the general idea how they design modern wow, study how evoker plays and works and then look warlocks mechanics and think can we honestly say that warlocks design is up to date.
I don’t know if you read my entire post, but for me it’s not a question of “outdated gameplay” simply because if you took the entire 15-year-old Warlock gameplay and brought it back to 2025, it would be absolutely better than the current one.
The current one is simply broken, counterintuitive, often nonsensical, with “russian doll” signergies in the case of Demonology (summoning demons to empower demons that empower demons and finally summoning a demon that empowers the demons), malefic rapture spam, chaos bolt centric spec and almost no damage from others spells, defensive ones that are only valid for the first few seconds of an arena
