So, I got the Recipe for the Elixir of Giant Growth. I need to be level 90 in classic alchemy to learn it, only I don’t seem to be able to train any classic recipes from anyone.
They can all teach me Cataclysm Alchemy.
So how does this work now? Trainers and vendors don’t teach or sell what guides say they do anymore either.
Which means you found the correct trainers. All you need to do is to scroll down past the cataclysm recipes.
I know, it is suboptimal to have the same trainers being the source of both vanilla and Cataclysm recipes, but this is unfortunately what Blizzard did. At least we still have a source for the vanilla professions from trainers. As opposed to a lot else that got lost with the cataclysm world revamp.
Soo… Did you got to learn the initial Alchemy skill?
If no: Make sure you have an empty primary profession slot, you can only have two primary professions at once. To unlearn a Profession, go to your Spellbook > Professions tab and click on the red unlearn-button on the bottom right corner of the respective profession’s icon to unlearn it.
If yes: Open your spellbook and look at the Professions-tab. Here you click the smaller Alchemy-icon to open up the crafting window. You then have to skill up your Alchemy by crafting any of what you learned when you acquired the initial Alchemy skill. When you have high enough skill, you can learn higher skill recipes from trainer.
No need to follow guides really, just skill up with newly learned recipes from trainer and keep track of what skill is required for the next unlearned recipes. The mats should be cheap on AH anyway.
