Just have your servers run this cycle on repeat, purge all characters at the end of WoTLK and you are all set. Don’t bother with seasons or era servers.
This sounds madness and not fun. Losing everything at the end and start from zero?
I suggest fix retail.
I won’t play. Era servers where I can keep my characters are a must.
I didn’t put all this time and effort into these characters to see them deleted just so the servers can cycle all the way through again. At least let us move them to retail.
Another silly idea:
Re-launch entire WoW with Classic as Entry servers. All new characters begins here.
Once a character reaches level 58 the player will get an option to move the character to the TBC server. He can move the character at any time - or leave it at ERA.
In TBC it is more or less the same; once a character reached 68 it can be moved to WotLK servers.
You cannot transfer characters “up” or “down” (so no TBC items in Classic and no low level characters in TBC).
Thereby we have Classic, TBC and WotLK infinite versions (“classic ERA” for all versions), and still able to “upgrade” later on.
There’s a major drawback with this though:
For a player wanting to play WotLK there will be a long way up: a full classic levelling (no wotlk bonus xp or quests) plus a full TBC levelling. And imagine then adding Cataclysm etc. on top of that …
But for people wanting a classic experience (most of us do) this has a benefit of having all sorts of levels active - also after a year.
