Classic + Design

How do you people envision classic +?

What are most important things you think it should be assambled of?

I would like slower pace, and BiS epics that last at least a year.

Thanks Puny..How to transfer it there?

You should be able to edit your opening post and one of the options is what forum you are posting in.

Definitely not Classic by heart. We have dedicated servers for Classic, and people looking for nostalgia can still hang out there, and they do.

However, a “Classic+” approach should be something new, while protecting the core values of Classic. Implementing some QoL changes from different eras of WoW and implementing fresh ideas like SoD, maybe a different take on the lore without changing the core of it. I dunno, focusing on something other than what we’ve seen so far.

I mean, there are many, many, many possibilities. We can all speculate all day, every day (and we do already), but let’s see what they are cooking, if they are cooking. I am getting bored of Retail and Classic. If this turns out to be something good, it will refresh my will to stick to the game I loved for 20 years.

In short, I expect something refreshing, something to re-fuel the fire that is about to go off.

I’d like a super slow levelling cadence and I hope, though unlikely as it may be, it have a survival theme to it. I’m u sure as to how we would make WoW a survival game but I just think it would be really good. MMOs have stagnated for so long and Beta testing, youtube videos and min/max culture has eroded all fun out of the game. I’d like to see some of the retail components in the game, like Delves as I found them really fun because I know my ability and it isn’t hampered by the doom min/maxing and gate keeping community. I’d love a more meaningful housing addition. I love the retail housing but there isn’t a WHY? in its addition. The housing could tie into yhe whole survival element? Being able to have 1 character do all my crafting would be great (I do have an alt army but I find it tedious to play sometimes and doing the same content over and over gives me burnout). A better fishing loop would be good to, turn it into a mini game like other MMOs have done? I’d like to bui,d crafting stations in my house and trophies I get from content. Meaningful solo content would be wise with comparable rewards to raid content. This would be good because it would remove the feeling that gatekeeping is holding people back. I’d love to mainly do group ocntent but I have little confidence in any MMO community these days doing group content the way I like to do it, like we did 20+yrs ago (under-geared but still able to complete content).

Above all I just hope they put the RPG back into MMORPG. I’m sure I’ll like whatever they do generally. I’m not expecting everything on my list, and maybe that could be better? Perhaps I’ll prefer whatever it is they do, perhaps I won’t. Whatever happens though I’ll continue some gaming, whether it be WoW, the new Total War Warhammer 40k, Light No Fire, Star Citizen (if they every get the game sorted….), Valhiem 1.0 and Runescape Dragonwilds 1.0 are released early next month, so there’s lots of options.

Happy gaming no matter what happens….. :hugs:

EDIT: Im hoping the game is in a different timeliness also. Hope its in the future so we can have all the race/class combos and im hoping that they’ll be no raceial abilities/stats, so we can choose our race based on aesthetics. Or if there are racial stats, maybe we gain attribute points to spend each level so we can ignore the racials if we like and spend to boost what we really want our character to be. Eg Tauren racial has more health, but perhaps at end level we prefer more strength and the extra health would have had to have be put in along your leveling journey anyway, so racials only matter when you start and low level.

Well I think that the post important thing is that they somehow need to make people communicate with each other like in classic and bring back the social aspect of the game.

It should not be classic at the core because this should be evolving classic warcraft we know but with (new locations, mechanics, expanded lore, dungeons etc.) something like turtle.

But the most important is the “MMO” feeling where you interact in live fantasy world and meet new people.

Just my opinion.

I love this but sadly a lot of that responsibility rests on the shoulders on us players. With the amount of gold buyers and gatekeepers we have today, it’ll be a tough design choice and im not at all sure it could work. I’d love to be proven wrong here though, as I really do miss the fun group content can have.

I also think that whatever C+ is it’ll replace Classic, as im sure behind closed doors Blizzard are trying to find a way to get the Classic subscribers to purchase a game every few years li,e they do in Retail.

If I were in charge of Classic+, these would be its features:

  • Combat would have the same pace as Classic/TBC, with it being more forgiving on mistakes but more punishing on recovery downtime. Ie. if you pulled 3 enemies you would survive more easily than in Classic, but you would be forced to spend more time restoring hp/mana after such an event
  • Transmog would exist, but other players would have to manually enable the option to see the transmog of other players, and it would be limited to up to 50 other characters, not global.
  • Combat interface would have everything Retail does that would make sense in Classic (for example the damage meter, cooldown manager, boss ability timings etc. would exist, but the Mount, Pet, Heirloom, Achievements etc. windows wouldn’t exist).
  • Players would be able to change faction by a system similar to Scryer/Aldor, so yes, there could exist Humans Horde and Undeads in Alliance
    – Which would eliminate the need for new race/class combinations for class parity among factions
  • All instanced PvP would be Gold vs Purple, not Alliance vs Horde, but PvE would still have groups be faction-locked. Overworld PvP would still be Alliance vs Horde.
  • Banks would still work with the custom bag system, but their interface would allow to show everything in tabs of up to 98 items per tab, in order to eliminate the need to scale down the size of everything.
