I need my Classic itch scratched again, so I have a question about server choice. No interest in WotLK whatsoever. What’s the better server to level, find dungeon groups and eventually get into a NON GDKP guild for some raiding? I hear Pyrewood is the more chill choice, but the population is low and people often can’t fill groups for dungeons. Firemaw on the other hand has the population but everyone is maxed out and bored which leads to awful leveling experience - ganking and stuff.
Opinions?
Try the PVE cluster.
PVP cluster is full of GDKP, ganking and boosting.

It is Low, but there are people, guilds, dungeons and raids - both on Ally and Horde side. Don’t let the population status scare you - if you need a gdkp free realm, then try the PvE cluster.

Actually it doesn’t matter which normal PvE realm you choose on Era, they are all connected.
Day and night, depends many pros and cons that can counter each other depends ur taste… i was used in crowded realms pve cluster is heart breaking low pop, by the other hand i cant bare the pointless anti progressive timewasting wpvp, since bgz exist. If you dont mind pvp id say firemaw all the way, as for boosting/gdkp you ether have 2 options ether avoid id and have a rough time or embrace it and maybe who knows… enjoy it?
Firemaw is an absolute bloodbath , if you like that (like I do) that’s where to go. There is a lot of GDKP but there are normal runs too.
Pyrewood is a bit more chill I believe, but it’s PvE

The Pyrewood cluster has in the evening ~1300 alliance and 700 horde players. It is a healthy population, IMHO

There are some softres runs going on on Firemaw too but the vast majority are GDKP with insane prices, I basically only do PVP at the moment and farm some gold.
Mind if I ask what addon/site did you use to check that? Horde pop seems a bit lower of that, sometimes it’s super hard to find groups for dungeons even on peak times.
Understand that if you roll on Firemaw (especially as Alliance) your leveling time will be three times longer. You will spend most of your time either being ganked or fighting in world pvp. In places such as STV it will be nearly impossible to quest at times and you will literally be ganked by undead rogues every 10 mins.
The other thing to be aware of is the mass amount of botting, which is encouraged by Blizzard. The upside is that there are hundreds of epics for sale on the AH for hardly any gold. The downside is that some quests hubs are utterly farmed by bots and you have to fight to get the mobs, also prices are massively inflated due to the consequential gold buying,
If you can handle that then it’s a great server. There are more people playing now than back in 2004 (due to us all being crammed onto the same cluster) and so you will always find people to group up with and run dungeons and epic quests. The world feels alive, even if (for most of your leveling experience) you won’t be.

Pvp is part of the game. Accept it. Embrace it. Come to firemaw, it is a freaking bloodbath, indeed, but we enjoy these skirmishes so much!

Alliance outnumber the Horde on the PvP Firemaw cluster so the experience for Horde is even worse for levelling lol. Both factions are great for raids whether its SR Pugs, GDKP pugs or Guilds.

After moving my HC character to pyrewood, can confirm it is dead in comparison to firemaw, takes ages to find groups, be it for elite quests (literally no response for any of the ones I’ve needed over the last few days) or dungeons, so far I’ve seen a handful of groups for each dungeon a day, if you don’t get invited or start your own you could be waiting another few hours and that’s if the group doesn’t disband before you fill. Saw someone trying to get a pug AQ going today and it took almost 3 hours before they started.
I wish people would stop acting like this is an active cluster because the reality is that it’s just not. Really hoping I can move to firemaw, don’t even care about the gdkp’s at this point, atleast I can find a group over there.

Pyrewood has felt very quiet since I’ve been there, probs best to go to firemaw

He was pugging AQ without GDKP after 3 hours? Well not sooo bad.
Even so as someone else stated you‘re leveling process will be so much longer due to all the ganking.
Just level on PVE and then transfer to PVP if you wanna be on the big server as so many other did
firemaw is croggerpoggers
if you like to play horde don’t bother with pvp cluster , too many alliance rogues with no raid spots bored out of their mind ganking low level players
