Classic Era Servers Are BACK!

A lot of people haven’t logged onto Era servers for a long time so are under the impression no one plays there… WELL YOU’RE WRONG!

I’m just here to spread the good news that Classic Era servers are BACK! We have guilds consistently raiding and we have BGs always popping in prime time (around 4PM to 1AM and ALL weekend). AH also now has auction listings again and the economy is slowly growing again. I see more and more people returning to Era servers as they get tired of the SOM consumable grind and all the other SOM nonsense.

Friday night is also the official Classic Era PVP night. So come join us on your Classic Era characters for BG fun every Friday! See you there!

I myself got sick of TBC and into SoM to quickly discover it was not my thing.

Classic Era allows you to play at your own tempo and this is something I really appreciate. No hype train bullcrap, if you are here is because you love the game.

Still, in our cluster (Firemaw server) we do have raid and also speedruns + a competitive pvp scene.

It is a small growing community devoid of bots. Still, I am sure a lot of players would return if they knew we are there, so what OP is doing is basically stating the truth.

People like Dottie will of course bash us for sharing this - disclaimer: there are no Dotties in Classic Era.

Hope to see ya back home.

Yep. Actually been going steady for a couple of months in ERA.
Becoming a nice community for those who actually like classic.

Hmm… Might have to check it out… If I can’t get my hunter rank 10 this week I might drop SoM entirely.

I like the anti boosting and exploit based farming fixes. But I hate the “new” economy and gdkp meta. It seems tailor made to gold buyers…

I wouldn’t bet on that.

I’m on Razorgore and it seems dead.

Can confirm that since november numbers have increased steadily week to week. You now see people in the world, have some competition on lotus and rich thoriums, lfg has ppl doing multiple dungeons not just strat orb runs and ah is slowly getting stocked up on other stuff than arcane crystals and dreamfoil. No bots is a + and no real boosting so far. Ah yes and the community is still small enough that the ******** are getting excluded.

Use the free transfer option (which I just checked and you have available) to get to Firemaw. Probably everybody playing already migrated their characters there.
Thats where most are…!

[INFO] Also for those that are not within the big cluster of servers - theres one where we are and an empty one - please check the Blizzard shop for a free transfer to Firemaw and transfer as many characters as you want (all free).
This way we will avoid confusion for those checking in to find themselves alone. Hope to see you around.

If you’re a PvE player feel free to roll a character on any of the three available servers. They are all one cluster, and thus all three marks as low pop even though together they have a decent population. HW - the RP-PvE server - is empty, but free transfer to Pyrewood Village is still up.

I’m on Pyrewood Village - Horde. Not many people out in the world, or in cities.

BUT there are guilds that log on during their scheduled raid days.

And there ARE BGs going. 3-5 games of WSG active at once, during prime times. And sometimes even get an AV pop on weekends.

Is it a ‘healthy population’? Probably not, but it is a population. One that is slowly growing, after the shine of TBC has worn off.

I think when WoTLK comes, and people remember that the expansion was actually pretty rubbish (be real - Ulduar was the only good raid, and DKs dicked PvP) - we could have more players trickling to the Era expansion of their choice.

Oh and Classic has good raids? just 1 button rotation and no mechanics

Yeah, I liked BWL, AQ, and Naxx. Even ZG and AQ20 were decent. Only MC is a bore.

WoTLK has:
Copy + paste of Naxxramas which has been dumbed down so much that it is impossible to die in.
Trial of the Crusader which is 5 bosses in one room, with barely any mechanics.
ICC which many average guilds - mine included - got 11/12 HC in one night, and then proceeded to spend weeks or even months wiping on HC LK. Woohoo, 1 challenging boss.
Ulduar was quality though. Not enough to keep me playing that expansion.

But you do you.

Blizzard should get a team of old school fans together and make classic+ already.

Sums up my fears aswell. Less content, less bosses but almost the same duration as TBC. Naxxramas and Onyxia, especially Naxxramas, might have been exciting first time around when few people had experienced it (as the biggest growth came in TBC). But this time around most of us come from a 5 month spam of it…

I guess Achivements might keep some raids interesting longer, but who knows in the end.

Yep, we will have to see how much achievements appeal to the playerbase.
However, with the current generation of raid-logging dads who buy gold from Russians to fund their consumables for their 1 weekly raid night - I suspect these are NOT the kind of players who will be hunting achievements.

The biggest mistake with WoTLK was that there was only 4 months between the release of Ulduar, and the release of ToC.

In comparison, there was nearly 12 months between ICC release and Cataclysm.

WoTLK raids do not have the same replay value as Vanilla and TBC, where each of the tiers were raided throughout the lifespan of those expansions, previous tier loot still had use.

WoTLK pioneered the Retail WoW meta where a new raid directly REPLACES the previous tier.

Nobody is going back to Ulduar or Naxx when ICC is out, unless you do so for achievements.

It would be best if Blizzard has learnt from the past and leaves a smaller gap between Naxx and Ulduar, and a larger gap between Ulduar and ToC.

i played hunter in classic, its more than 1 button, and u got meleeweave as well if u really wanna minmax, i would say playing hunter in classic is more complex than retail.

SoM failed hard since day 1.

TBC isn’t fun, it was fun back in 2007.

So… if this is true, what you are saying? I might check it out.

Just resubscribed because of this, only to find that all servers are still dead as sh*t. Nice rugpull m8
