Logged into Classic after a friend told me servers are full and to my surprise, indeed says all full. What’s going on? I thought all characters got migrated to TBC/Wotlk?
Are people playing old naxx geared characters?
Not all are full. There are many low pop servers too. If you want to play on a server withouth a bunch of Naxx geared chars, you could try Zandalar tribe. I’m not gonna lie, it’s very low pop, but it’s increasing slowly, but surely. It feels like a lot of players that is considering it, but think it’s too low pop atm and wait for it to catch on. The community is very helpful and friendly to new players on the server and while there is some 60ties here and there, most people are lvling. This used to be a lively server until TBC. and there is now a project to get it back up and running.

My naxx toon is gone 
Did they delete those copies we paid for?
You either choose TBC or Era. If you choose TBC, you don’t have that char on era. You had 2-3 years the option to pay to copy it so you could have it on both era and TBC, (now Wrath classic), but that option is now gone. I think every char that you did NOT choose an option for got moved to Wrath. So if you did not choose Era for your toon, yes it will be gone.
If you paid then it will still be there on the same realm in Era but if you didn’t pay the cloning fee then they are on Wrath on the same server, unless that realms was purged, then it’s on Wrath Mograine.
You had to actively choose to move to Era.
Yes and no… some people still have their old characters, but a lot of people have been levelling new chars, or using ones from SoM. Now as for the question to why… well… there’s been a desire to go back to basics, to the original version of the game. The current Classic progression servers are going through Wrath and then likely into Cata… and a lot of people do not want that. So, hence, we are back playing Classic Era like it’s 2019 again. You love to see it.

Also there is loads of people doing HC challenge = No-death. They mostly live in Hydraxian Waterlords, but have spilled over to many PvE servers.
What would be more fun to play on a server where a bunch of Naxx geared ret pallies camp STV and blow consumables to catch level 29s.
Well, ofc ‘HC WoW’, where you gotta start over because someone who secretly didn’t like you forgot to heal.
Luckily for you there are also PvE servers.
i`ve leveled 3 characters to 60 on firemaw, ganking is not a major issue.

I started Firemaw With a friend a month ago and it’s really good.
The cities are full, dungeons of all levels are getting run, AH is full, it’s very alive. A lot of people levelling, even met some people new to WoW.
Don’t listen to the “naxx geared gankers bla bla.”
I’ve been ganked twice in the last month, which isn’t more frequently than when I played the original version. It’s a pvp classic server so there’s pvp…you can always go pve server too.
