Classic feels more solo than retail

I thought Classic would be a fresh experience because people praised the social aspect ‘‘Oh the classic community is so great and you will make so many friends’’, but i have never played an MMO and felt so alone.

Sure questing is harder solo, and that can be enjoyable to an extent, but at this point it feels more like i’m playing Dark Souls than an MMO. The occasional Horde player will pop by and we will fight, one of us dies, then just back to desolate, quiet solo questing void for another 5 hours.

I don’t know why people lie so much about how classic would be this wholesome experience, it’s an RPG wich retail is not anymore, that i enjoy, but to call it an MMO? Yeah sure there are people running around but they’re about as interactive as your average city guard.

Maybe the problem is you, or the server / faction you chose.
Horde is super social at least.

I’ve found it really social so far not just with my guild but random other players helping out with quests and chatting while we do them. Its as social as you make it.

Sorry to hear this OP, what server are you on? Couldn’t be any different for me so far. I’ve had regular grouping with randoms for kill quests, stayed grouped with some of them, ran a dungeon. Nice conversations in party chat, added them to friends, invited them to guild. The social aspect on Razorgore horde has been awesome and takes me back to 2005

I second this, with server as shazzrah horde.

Maybe players are not feeling too social after waiting 8 hours to log in?

I can’t relate to your experience tho. I have had great interactions with other players so far.

Retail feels so solo though? lol.
I usually chat with people during quests in classic…
Retail, the only times you even need to group up is during dungeons/raids.

Are you perhaps not talking to them / asking them to quest together as well?

In 8 hours of playing I already experienced the following:

  • Made friends with some random players that had to do same quest as me
  • Made friend with a player from my country that was talking in general chat
  • 2 guys saved my life in a cave yesterday and then we grouped up
  • A random Mage buffed me and gave me water that helped me a lot
  • Had a blast in general chat when SW city zone got bugged and people started to make jokes and creepy stories

Gehennas Alliance, lots of people, null interaction.
Lots of experiences would be standing next to an elite quest, i ask the people around me ‘‘Group up?’’, no answer, they’re just waiting for someone to pull so they can go in an loot without taking aggro.

Ask ‘‘lfg for X dungeon’’ in populated zone, no answer, elite quest lfg, no answer, etc etc

I don’t know, maybe people are already playing with their friends, that could be understandable, but it doesn’t help.

I have to say that i passed my first 15 levels 50% in group. So maybe is just a matter of faction or servers.

Not our experience at all. I’m playing with my husband and a friend. Last night we picked up a priest and they stayed with us for a couple of hours.

This is why people are queueing for 8 hours and not playing some medium realm that blizzard opens up.
People have been yelling “just switch!” and are now realising that they’re missing the social aspect of the game.
On shazzrah it’s hard to actually be alone.
Even running through ashenvale to get my flightpaths i got buffed by a stranger.

Didn’t all the tryhard alliance guilds move to gehennas… Might be outta luck with that server/faction selection.

They don’t get loot from the elites, if they’re not part of your group though?
Or do you mean chests near the elites? :o

On Mograine Horde, it’s one of the best experiences i’ve had. Already made over 5 friends and there’s constant gossip and chat in every general chat in every zone.

I’ve been asked questions, i’ve been offered help by people who had already done the quest and i’ve had lots of fun overall.

Perhaps you need to try a different approach and try chatting with people?

Wait, so you thought you would would just log into the game and be auto invited instantly to groups where you would all head down to the Inn and do line dancing?

Or are you suggesting that all these realms that have more population than vanilla launch have no people in it? I am so confused right now.

maybe the issue is you

I hear ya, several times have someone aided me to kill mobs if they saw me low hp, or invited me to a party if they were killing quest boss when i ran into the area etc, these little things that matter.

In return i say to skinners that they are welcome to munch of the beats i kill.

I am so sorry to hear this has been your experience so far. Mine has been the opposite and it is just beautiful.
People are talking, grouping, buffing, cheering, clapping, kissing, and dancing!
The other day I saved someone from the jaws of death and it felt amazing, BEFORE they expressed their gratitude I felt on top of the world.
I dunno what to suggest for you but try tossing out buffs randomly on everyone. You’ll get a buff back sometimes and that’s nice. If you have no buffs to give then help someone who has just pulled too many mobs by killing them. Sure they’re tapped but are you really gonna let them die?? Maybe you are :stuck_out_tongue:
