Classic folder is 4GB, total size 49GB?

I play only the classic and the game folder had the insane size of 49.2GB. I deleted it and reinstalled it and the total folder size is only 4GB. Come on 45GB of trash files on my SSD disc?
Make a garbage collector and run it from time to time to delete the useless files. Its really sad to increase the folder size with no reason at all.

I have always had problems installing on a SSD, it seems to double and sometimes triple the installation size. I once had to restart my machine 3 times to get it to install properly. Now I always install on a HDD then copy it across.

My total WoW folder is 67GB, you have to remember the Classic folder doesn’t hold the whole game.

This seems to be an issue on your local side.
Check that your Blizzard launcher ain’t installing Retail besides classic (Happens if you don’t notice that Retail is selected and click install)

The whole World of Warcraft folder shouldn’t be bigger than 4.6GB.

The only thing that could make it bigger is screenshots, since they get stored in game folder.

And addons, though those usually do not take up much space.

Where on earth do you get that number from? Vanilla was quite small but Classic takes up far more room than that. Check the Data folder, you know the place where the games data is stored.

If you’ve ever played the Retail game then your folder will be huge. Even if you uninstall Retail, it still keeps the Retail game data in your WOW files (around 50gb)

I found this out moving my Classic to SSD last week. You have to delete it and re-install Classic only.

Idk why it’s like this, doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

Silme is correct, if you have never installed Retail and you have fresh Classic installed, it is 4.6GB.

I get that number from all my computers with the game installed. (1x Desktop, 2x windows laptops and a linux laptop)

Totally right, forgot about that.
Even with AddOns like AbyssUI (which is pretty big) you would never go over a couple hundred MBs tho.

I would suggest removing your retail files before making such a claim. Classic + classic ptr takes up 4.92GB for me, including addons. Or you could just check the system requirements: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/243159
The mininmum requirement obviously wouldn’t state 5 GB if the game required much more than 4.6GB. Ofcourse, blizzard recommends alot more since they want you to install retail aswell.

I’m having a go at that on another PC now.

Since you haven’t returned yet I assume you realised you were wrong?

I have been out to do some shopping while it installed and the size on the disk is 4.2gb actual. I’m not a person who won’t admit when I’m wrong, I was wrong.

Sorry, but that “now” made it look like you would return with an update shortly. It’s not like it takes very long to install those 4.2GB.

Mine is abt 4.6 GB too.

I uninstalled Refail last year btw.

If you run into issues just uninstall everything and re-install just Classic.

The machine for some reason was only downloading at 4Mbps so it wasn’t as quick as my main machine.
