Hi, Before starting fresh. I have a reasonable question, if someone doesn’t like The Burning Crusade can they clone or copy their characters to era instead of progressing to tbc?
Kind regards

Exactly this. The only way I’m investing time in the fresh server is if i can copy it to era later or keep playing it on a vanilla server
Seems clear to me (i pass becouse i dont like Tbc classic)
Burning Crusade Classic
We’re particularly excited to reveal that Normal (PvE) and PvP fresh Anniversary realms will progress to Burning Crusade Classic, after we progress through the Classic Era content phases. This will be our first visit back to the start of this beloved expansion since its launch in 2021.
Our new Hardcore Anniversary realms will not progress to Burning Crusade Classic. Hardcore has always been focused on the Classic 1-60 journey, made truly viable and approachable thanks to Classic’s original mechanics and difficulty. Burning Crusade brings with it a level of challenge (and randomness) that we feel doesn’t fit Hardcore.
Its not. What does “progress” mean? Its a lawyery weasel word. Both hard upgrading to TBC and giving options to upgrade to TBC can be describes as the server community “progressing” to TBC.
You´re overthinking it… the wording, despite your critique of being “laywery”, is 100% clear.
In layman´s terms that can´t be easily twisted to support someone´s negative agenda:
As soon as the fresh classic PvE+PvP realms (but not HC) have gone though all the classic content in chronological order (=“Progressed through the classic era content phases”), the servers will switch to TBC.
PS: Just as an aside, your critique is in reality diametrically opposed to how actual lawyers speak. They are very precise with their choice of words when making statements of fact, because they fully expect every person to interpret anything and everything possible into them, at any cost or even the most extreme mental gymnastics, and try to avoid that above all else. Because it´s exactly what the opposing side of the case is supposed to do to find chinks in the armor than can be exploited.
I assume it will be like last time. You can choose TBC or the exisiting era realms, don’t exepect new era realms. And for a price you can do both.
This is what i would hope for, same as season of mastery.
@Blue post would answer our questions =)
…and will this TBC eventually progress to Wrath and on to Cata with no Era servers? That’s a biggie too.
I’m not really sure if I want it to go to wrath or not. I played a LOT in TBC back in 2007+. With the exeption of Sunwell we cleared everythign before the first nerf, (then my guild
fell apart while waiting for the next raid). Also had 3 chars raiding, 7 at max lvl, 3 epic flying mounts and done all quests 3 time over, so nothing new ther, but lots of memories, While I did clear all of Lich raids too, and did all the quests 2-3 times over I was a bit burned out, so more on and off. I like the classes I feel mage and protection warrior is fun to play at wrath and protection warrior is also nicely tuend, the only problem is that the other tank classes, particular Paladins and DK are way OP in the role, there is no point in taking a warrior. So really not sure if I want it to progress or not.
Maybee after a long time? I would like the achivement though. I like achivment, not for boasting and gate keeping, but becouse I feel good when I can tick of yet another achivement on my list. For me, I dont’ really care what others do.
I would like it progressing to Wrath IF we had TBC Era servers and IF we were guaranteed Wrath Era servers as well.
I loved the Achievements, but making them account-wide ruined any fun for me in Wrath Classic. None of my toons really care what others on that account are doing
Excellent question and one that I have posed myself too.
Why not let players choose?
Anniversary → Era
Anniversary → TBC
After all, why not?
Will we get a chance to play TBC endlessly like on the classic era realms, or will we be forced to keep progressing to WOTLK.
I don’t want to put time into a character if I don’t get the chance to play TBC at my own pace for as long as I feel like it
This question needs to be answered before the new servers go live, and if the answer is, … we don’t know yet, then that’s enough for me to decide.
The information on this is vague and I don’t understand why
Also if it’s a year of fresh we lose like 1 - 2 years off the original timeline of vanilla will bosses drop more loot to accommodate the lose of time?
The only thing that could make me invest 2+ years into building new characters on offical servers (again) is if they can be sent to TBC or WOTLK-era servers where they can live on.
I’m not spending years building something up that will be forcefully moved to Cataclysm or just straight up deleted again.
Unless Blizzard give their word that we will have the option of TBC and/or WOTLK-era, I’m not wasting any more time on offical servers.
