As soon as Wrath of the Lich King Classic seems to be just a matter of time, we all think what’s next. Next to the Classic, I mean.Era servers that stay empty, like Vanilla ones atm, and I’m sure BC will be? Project closed? Anything else? That’s what I was thinking about…
And I thought of a Classic Legacy system, in which Blizzard should transorm Classic in the end or sooner. This system will allow either former or present or new players to start their own story in Azeroth and go on in their own tempo, completing all of the phases step by step. This is what I mean:
Main idea of the system, its’ basic requirements:
a) Era type servers for Vanilla Classic, tBC Classic and WotLK Classic;
b) Ability to create characters on any of these servers in order to let the players skip previous content if they want it;
c) Free or at least cheap character transfer from Vanilla to tBC & from tBC to WotLK servers;
Of course, leaving all of the things as they are is going to change nothing so there are some things to add. All of my proposals are going to change the game slightly, still they are not to influence the gameplay but quality of life improvements mostly:
a) Adding draenei & blood elves to Vanilla race pool as well as shamans for the Alliance and paladins for the Horde. (Yep. I realize it’s not gonna be Vanilla as it used to be, but it isn’t the purpose to resurrect Vanilla experience again);
b) I’m not sure what to do about Death Knights. I believe they are to stay a heroic class, starting form level 50 or 55 or 60 or whatever. The main problem for them, if they are still WotLK only feature, are mostly empty leveling locations. If they are added to Vanilla and/or tBC it’s gonna be an absolutely gameplay changing innovation that’ll have unknown influence on the game;
c) Professions. Adding jewelcrafting to Vanilla and inscription to Vanilla & tBC will influence economy for sure, but I don’t think this influence is gonna be defining. Although inscription’ symbol system is to be activated in WotLK only, earlier this profession should focus on crafting scrolls, staff and shoulder inscriptions;
d) Achievement system for Vanilla & tBC. As soon as the Classic clients are based on a Legion version 7.x.x, achievement system is already in there, though not active. There’s an addon that activates it. Why not making activated from the very beginning? Idk.
e) Visual effect & graphic imrovements. Let’s be honest - Classic games look absolutely ugly today. Authentical, yes, but ugly. It’s like a lamp-based TVset today. I’m absolutely sure that a better look of the game will give better experience for the players. The ability to turn it on/off is surely welcome;
f) Attunement system. In tBC it is ideal to me. So the same one should be added to Vanilla & WotLK. It is content gating as well as a cirtain gear requirement check. Demanding previous tier comletion to have an access to a next one is normal and has to be. Of course it’s all about Tier raids;
g) Looking for group/raid system. Of course it shouldn’t be automatic! I believe it has to be the one we have nowadays in Shadowlands for Premade Groups. I mean that automatic LFG system is either to be eliminated from WotLK or have some additional requirements to be used.
All of this is an idea, the first version of the possible future of Classic. It’s basis, skeleton.
