Classic Mage Nerfs

So why would anyone level a mage now? Mages are going to be completely useless after the PrePatch compared to other classes with the ZF and Aoe Nerfs theres literally no reason to play a mage anymore…

Mage is the only class i have at 59. My next highest is a lvl 28 Shaman hahaha. I MUST be a mage in TBC.
But I am an undead fire mage. Did they get nerfed hard?

You only play Mage for the purpose of boosting players through dungeons? Lmao.

Some like to play with a disadvantage, and the classes, that have been knocked down a bit.

No matter how good or bad a mage perform, I have always liked my mages, and tried to create them to best mimic the sorceress from Diablo 2 - my first mage crush.

For the players that don’t follow that much up on the news regarding this, or just play like they always have; I don’t think they have problems with this.

They have only nerfed the ability to boost and to AoE farm gold in dungeons.

The banning of mage boosting makes no difference to me, because I never did this. The nerfing of AoE may make a difference, but I generally don’t AoE level or AoE grind dungeons for gold either, so again not too big a deal really. I’m sure the AoE NERF would not stop me going back and running vanilla dungeons are 70 for raw gold or just might be a bit slower.

Mage is top 1 damage dealer in raids.

Raids are nerfed → shorter boss fights → better for arcane mages.

I mean Mage was already the top dps class in T4 back in the original TBCC release. It was like Mage > Hunter > Warrior for T4, with mage being miles ahead.

I feel somewhat the same. Didnt boost people, but I dislike the fact that they interfere with core game mechanics and especially changes which make classic feel more like retail. From my perspective it should have been adressed in another way, they could even just ban boost like they did gdkp, but this was probably just the easiest thing since it was part of the last patch from last tbc classic.

Anyway, most people seem to be happy that blizzard do it like this, and they won’t use developer time to revert this to how it originally was now. Sucks to be collateral damage, but thats how it is.

Im transferring to era, then maybe I resubscribe at a later date, if era pve ever gets a good population. You could just let the account rest until wotlk. Mage without slow was somewhat fun during that expansion.

Correct me if i’m wrong, but aren’t mages top tier dps for most, if not all phases of TBC? On top of that, they’re also top tier in arenas, being part of some of the top meta comps.

I suspect them to be highly sort after (especially around launch and early phases), for regular dungeon play too.

To me, they look like a great choice for a class, in a version, that requires less farming, and adds daily quests too.

Thanks OP, this is really letting me relive the feeling of TBC’s launch back in the day. I hear the floors in the mage tower are still stained with the tears of mages crying over how hard they got nerfed to this day!

Correct. They also benefit (meaning: they don’t suffer) from nerfed heroics and raids.

Fights will be shorter in TBC anniversary than “vanilla” TBC, meaning Warlocks and other classes who benefit from fights dragging on fall behind.

Arcane mages do require a lot of help from the raid team but everyone does optimised raid comps so they will indeed pump HARD

Locks wasnt top dps shadow bolt spam?
