I would gladly pay for a “classic only” subscription.
Retail is what I do not care about.
It would clear the air.
Blizzard could see the real picture what people think about classic.
And of course that could pay for development of classic plus.

I would happily pay a Classic only supscription if the money just went to maintain and patroll Classic (a GM or two).
They already getting less money from classic (if you are talking about vanilla classic, not MoP) because no paid services. If they make subscription cheaper, they also add paid services, mounts and token to compensate it. I don’t think that it will be better
They would probably have more money from the Classic crew by making them pay for Classic separately. Not many play Classic only (like I do).
And who spoke of cheaper?
I’d gladly pay the same as I do today - IF the money was used for only Classic and not to make more Retail.
Change your race to troll
What’s the point? Your monthly subscription includes 3 versions of the game: Retail, Classic and MOP Classic. It’s up to you to choose which version you play. You’re not forced to buy retail expansions either. I pay 12 months sub and forget about it and just don’t play retail.
Sub price hasn’t changed from 2006 till now and remains 15 euro/usd. While dollar/euro value decreased by 200-300% in fact. You are literally in f2p mode. If it costs too much for you maybe you should find a job instead of being welfare parasite.
That would be a reason to make the subs separate - and € 15 a piece … the money going to the maintenance, upkeep and developement only of the version for which you actually pay.

How can you so completely and utterly miss the point the OP is making? In fact a couple of other posters here are doing the same.
The OP never mentions wanting a lower price. He’s saying he wants to pay exclusively for Classic, so that Blizzard can see how many people are paying just for the Classic servers, so they can put more effort and development into that.
I literally had to re-read the OP multiple times to see where he’s saying that sub should be cheaper, because multiple posters mention that.
This isn’t Twitter, can you guys please read?
They can already see that
so make 0 sense to change how sub works. Unless you want it “cheaper”
Because they would never , ever , I mean EVER , use the double subscription for something else .
Like how they never used the money they make off WoW to make Diablo 3, 4 Starcraft 2 , Overwatch ets ets .
Or you think they took a lone to make those and never touched the WoW honey pot .
WoW sub is what is floating blizzard and it is where they get the money for ALL their games .
Adding more money to the pot , wont make a difference , because it is already full and it is used to make some people richer , rather than make the games better .
Lets do some math .
Lets be generous and say we have 2 million subscribers
That’s 30 million every month
360 Million A year
720 Million for two years
+
Expansion price of 50 dollars
100 Million
so a total barebones expansion net for two years is :
820 million dollars
add to this payed survives , mounts ets
and it is easily over a
1 000 000 000 dollars . That’s 1 Billion .
You think running a handful of servers and paying a 1000 or so devs is worth 1 billion dollars ?
Most games actually survive and develop sequels for only the game price and they are very profitable .
That means that even with the 100 Million or even 200 , the game is profitable
The remining 800 million are what is going into someone’s private island .
Either the OP is blizzard bot testing the waters for sub increase , or he is totally delusional .
I wager the first as three have been a number of these nonsense threads recently .
wow active players are below 250k across all regions and versions. Maybe 2 mil people play sometimes, few months a year, but I doubt that as well.
There are 40k people playing anniversary EU and 60k US from what we can see in ironforge. Keep in mind that many do not log in all day every day. MoP is probably less than anniversary, but I could be wrong because many retail players jumped into MoP, because that’s when they started WoW (around that time - including myself, but I don’t play MoP).
Retail believe it or not, you cannot trust servers. These ‘‘full’’ servers do not have live count, nor do they have it for classic. It can mean a lot of things, but it means that this specific server has that many characters made into it. Now who knows, maybe the most populated retail servers have ‘‘high’’ population at peak times, which means around 20-30k people. Take some 5-6 servers like that and that is around let’s say 150k. Who knows how many people play 2 or even 3 versions, so I doubt there is 250k players ‘‘active players’’ - active very important. Maybe 1-2 mil players buy expansion, play 1 month a year and that’s it, or they log in every 4th month to play some classic, you can never know.
Believe me wow is not as popular as you think, it’s way less popular in fact.
Nope, not everybody buys expansions - I don’t. It does not matter if you play only Classic, you just have to pay a sub.
Ironforge pro is a good wibe check how the servers are going.
But its not accurate how many actually plays.
Belive it or not, but there are players not raiding at all. And there are players not doing loggning. Also there are players only doing zg, aq20 which barley count the player base.
So kinda hard to know the real numbers.
Also in retail you can check raider. Io to get an idea how many plays.
They have the advanced tech to determine which game you’re playing and aggregate that data into a report. You don’t need a special subscription for that.
i have done about 100 raids on anniversary and only 3 were logged^^
No … It’s more I don’t feel like paying for Retail and be given alms, aka. Classic free.
Why would they do that when they can just charge you full price retail for classic access?
I would personally be fine with being charged the price im and having to chose between classic and retail as I only play one of them I would be fine with if they wanted to earn more from people playing both versions.
I know that blizzard for sure can tell that im just playing classic, just as they can tell exactly how much of each version everyone is playing actually. To split the subs would be showing the share holders what people are more willing to pay for though and I think that for blizzard its better to not show it than it is to show it. A combined sub number will for sure be more impressive (aka x million players are playing wow instead of y million are playing classic and z million are playing retail).
