hello im mirlin from turalyon realm, im your casual filthy retail player, but i came across to an idea that made me think that maybe is time to stop living in the matrix and take that red pill to face the true harsh world of wow classic. That idea was wow classic Plus, where basically continues, but new lore and new time line. how much is this idea supported by this community? i love the qualities of classic forcing you to be more interactive with other players which is why i want to get in the train, but i feel like for me to commit to this game i kinda need to know where they plan to go and i personally would love classic plus. what are your thoughts about the future of classic?
Blizzard would never do it, they will at the most recreate TBC.
Making new content for Classic is too hard for them.
Blizzard are good for cinematic.
For the rest … don’t ask them to make new content, they can ruine something easily.
There’s a minor detail that all of the people in favour of Classic+ are overlooking.
Classic+ content wouldn’t be created for Classic players, it would be created for modern players. It would be created with modern audiences in mind, which means it would be much more hardcore and difficult than what is available now and what will be available in Naxx.
Seriously, take a good look at OSRS; the game you Classic+ers keep fantasising about. Back in 07, Corporeal Beast was considered the most difficult challenge available, requiring multiple players: It’s now solo-able.
Tz-tok-jad, something most struggled at with lvl100s? Yeah, every lvl40 and their grandmother can do it. The new things added to OSRS would have been considered impossible by the old players.
Blizzard wouldn’t waste their time designing content to suit the “durr it’s classic why bother min maxing” crowd. It would be content designed for the likes of APES and Progress.
looking at current retail WoW lore, i dunno if i really want them to touch Classic with a 20 foot pole.
They aren’t going to create content for an other MMO, as long as retail lives all focus on new stuff will be brought there.
What’s the point of creating a Classic+ that would appeal only to a segment of the Classic playerbase (and have significant dev costs) instead of rolling TBC?
I would like to see classic +
i wouldnt say its hard for THEM, its hard for the playerbase to agree on a single thing about this game (as seen with anything they’ve added / changes so far).
wouldnt matter what they added there’d always be a portion of purists screeching and crying about the game being ruined
what i dont get is why going on expansions? wont you end up with same problem again eventually? is the point to eventually reach bfa? i find very strange.
Depends on the expansion. I believe a lot of people just want to replay WoW’s holy trinity (Classic - tbc - wotlk) The expansions afterwards have a very niche popularity.
I think it’d be best to have servers for each of those 3 expansions. Bored of Classic? Replay TBC. Bored of WoTLK? Replay classic. Bored of the old style of gaming? Give retail a shot.
I think it’d be best to leave people with something to do, rather than constantly adding new stuff to try and lure people in.
Can’t we just stop at WotLK? Do you really see anyone around asking for Cata? I don’t.
What some of you Classic+ advocates don’t seem to get is that, for a lot of people, TBC and WotLK are “Classic” as much as Vanilla is. They’re not grouped up in the same can as Cata onwards.
I want cata
To bethrown in the deepest pit of hell to never come back…
If blizzactivision are after cash (obviously they are), they will most likely earn more from releasing TBC and Wotlk compared to classic +. (This is purely my assumption based on subs back in the day). I assume there are more players wanting TBC and wotlk than classic +, = more money.
But then again, never underestimate the power of giving the community what they want. Runescape did that, when they cut out the community communication the game died off, then they started to listen and what happend, the game bloomed again. This statement is based on numbers and comments coming from Jagex themselves.
Blizzactivision could learn a thing or two from this. Sadly it seems like they dont give a sh1t.
Personally, I don’t want 2020 Blizzard so much as touching anything I’m going to play. I am willing to pay them a sub if they give me access to mostly unchanged TBC ans WotLK, great games made by great developers that current Blizzard isnt fit to polish boots of.
I mean, i’d quite like MoP back.
MoP PvP was fuuuuuuuuun as hell and it had a bunch of fun stuff that I missed and would love to have a chance to do, like earning the challenge mode armour sets, doing the fel fire quest properly, get a Monk to 90 and dungeon/raid with it, earn a phoenix mount and do Isle of Thunder at a relevant level.
Oh man could you imagine if Acti-Blizz gave enough of a damn about their games to do the same thing Jagex does with OSRS? Classic could have been so good.
Stop it guys, Classic+ will never happen. Just a very small but vocal minority wants to happen, most people want TBC and it will happen because it is very easy for Blizzard to do it, minimal costs and huge profits.
If you want that Classic+ nonsense, go to Retail.
That would be a m a z i n g.
Imagine getting pollstands in major cities with voting and suggestions. Holy f.
The chance of that happening is pretty slim, considering the overall unpopularity of Cataclysm.
The problem is that WoW has different “classic” version, and how do we even know if Vanilla is the best choice for a “+” to begin with? Why not a TBC+ or WotLK+ instead?
That could be determined if people could vote and we actually saw the data. If the majority wanted a TBC+ so be it. But that will probably never happen.
Like many have posted here, most likely outcome will be TBC and wotlk the regular way.
