And what would the loot be? Plenty of naxx items are pre raid BiS for karazhan. Some items you don’t swap out until tier 5.
Until you don’t agree to the implemented ideas and come here on the forum to rant about them.
See that’s the thing with classic+, everyone has their own wish and idea how it should be. Just reading through this thread I see either: completely new dungeons based on blocked off parts off the world, new continents that were introduces in cata, TBC as level 60 content, and even a revamp of all the pre-naxx raids…
If they do A, people complain about the lack of B or the way A is implemented. Classic isn’t meant as a new mmo, it’s meant to relive Vanilla in a way (can’t recreate it 100%).
Most ppl want TBC anyway, so Classic + will never ever ever ever happen.
uhhh, that’s what a game review literally is. buying an implemented idea and ranting about it if it’s not what you thought was advertised.
and that’s why I don’t express my suggestions…
If they can make money from something and the cost to do it is low enough they will do it. At the moment the most cost effective option is TBC. After that it will be Wrath. After that they may even do Classic Cataclysm, but I doubt it, at that point you may as well go to retail. Sometime after that they might consider Classic + if they can find a way to do it cheaply enough.
There’s plenty of pre TBC content they coud explore: pre Cataclysm Kezan/ Twilight Highlands/Mt Hyjal/Gilneas. For instances Timbermaw Hold, original Emerald Dream, Kharazan catacombs are also possible. Content relevant to pruned factions too Shen’dralar and hidden areas of Dire Maul. Ravenloft/Syndicate and some hidden mansion where the real power behind the Alterac nobles are. The Timbermaw furbolg and Timbermaw Hold.
They will have to do something once Wrath has run its course.
Like others said, there is a lot of unfinished stuff in WoW classic that could be used for classic +, but I don’t think Blizzard will ever do something like that, too much work for them.
cataclysm… sadly
You can pretty much play Cataclysm as it was at launch with a level 30(?) character. Or a level 11 character if you choose to timewalk. If you presented either Classic Cata or Classic + as two alternative choices I think you might find Classic + would be the bigger draw.
it’s not what’s a bigger draw. it’s what blizzard is willing to deliver.
If i was a game dev then i’m sure i’d know…
They’ll deliver whatever pays. They didn’t want to do Classic either, until they realised quite a few people thought they did because they did. if the people making noise for Classic + are shouting louder than those wanting Classic Cata they’ll develop Classic+.
They have stated that the Classic series ends with Wrath.
As much as I dislike the tendency of WoW, from WotLK onwards, to have only one raid relevant each expansion (or, even when multiple raids were released like in early Cata, having them stay relevant only for one tier), I think Vanilla swings the pendulum too much in the opposite way. Having (nearly) every single raid staying relevant throughout the game’s whole lifespan leads to a point where the weekly schedule simply becomes unbearable for most guilds unless you commit to an unreasonably intense schedule. And sure, you can always say “Nobody forces you do do everything”, but the fact you can is still a hindrance to most guilds that cannot afford to do all, since some of the players may feel compelled to join a guild that can do more of that content each week. Plus, having so much content to do incentivizes speedrunning and other forms of gameplay that I don’t exactly find healthy for the game as a whole.
IMO, the golden average in this sense can be found in TBC. In TBC, raids stay relevant for roughly 2 tiers - enough time to keep the PvE experience varied but not to the point of having 40+ bosses to kill each week.
To each their own I guess. You don’t hear many people saying WOW classic has too much content it’s usually the lack of content they complain about. Some like a themepark experience, some want a consistent MMO. I’m glad that other MMO devs have seen the fact that content becoming irrelevant as you progress through the game is an issue and even damaging to the longevity of an MMO.
I think you’re conflating different things here. When people complain about Classic “lacking content”, they generally refer to the lack of content outside raids. This kind of complaint is perfectly compatible with the feel that there’s just too much content to fit into a 2-3 days of raiding. I dunno about you, but as much as I’m fine playing almost every day, I’m not fine raiding almost everyday (especially if we’re talking about guild-scheduled raids that I’m actually committed to participate into, not just pug runs that I join on a whim if I have a free day or night I wanna spend playing WoW).
That being said, I agree - to each their own. I just take an issue when people like you start talking as if some of this stuff is something objectively right. You’re the kind of people that make me feel glad anything like Classic+ isn’t going to happen anytime soon - at least not in place of TBC Classic.
please link. I’m genuinely interested in that article.
There is classic plus. Tbc, wotlk, cata, mop, Wod, Legion, bfa, sl.
Why would they invest their time in restarting from scratch?
It’s not being right/wrong which is why I said to each their own. You clearly think a theme park MMO is the way the game should be which is precisely what they have done with the game right up to Shadowlands making all previous content redundant.
Your reasons for wanting a theme park MMO are from what I gathered you don’t have time to raid and you’re a boomer, have you considered retail?
I thought I said above:
But I guess you’re one of those “if you don’t like Classic then you’re a retailer who likes Theme Park MMO”. Couldn’t it be, possibly, that neither Classic nor Retail are fine?
Unreasonably intense schedule, Yeah I read the post. So you basically don’t have time to play. Much like people that speedrun and demand everyone have world buffs.
It is a theme park MMO, that’s not an insult, that’s what it is that’s what it has been up to Shadowlands what else would you call it?
So basically if I’m not willing to raid 5-7 days a week then it means I want a “theme park MMO”? You should’ve rolled troll as a race, the insane logic you display here sure feels like one.
