Well you don’t get it. It was hard back then without prior knowledge. I never see anyone saying it will be hard this time around. I’ve seen a lot of people predicting that the content will be cleared in the first week.
Classic is only hard for children and teenagers, not for adult people. Classic is made for children looking for new friends. They made the social mechanics so that children can easily befriend each other. That’s why Vanilla WoW was so good in the early days, but now it has no real value anymore. The way adult people make friends are beyond what Classic has to offer. It’s just a fake show with people faking their enthousiasm.
Adult people shouting: “Classic is better! Classic is better!”, are just dreaming and are about to wake up (I hope).
The world is supposed to feel somewhat dangerous (It does), and you’ll be punished for playing carelessly (you do).
World of Warcraft has always been a casual game, even Vanilla, but Modern WOW is so casual that it’s almost offensively so, to a normal human being, capable of operating basic heavy machinery, while drunk, and in a coma, and dead.
Yet high end pve content in Classic is a joke, while on retail it’s not.
yea but retail is not an mmorpg. There is no point in just doing a raid. you can play a single player game with bosses like Sekiro for that.

and all the rest? the leveling. the friendships, the rpg element? do you find it anywhere in retail?
also how many people do mythic raiding? and until you do that what are you doing? collecting mounts alone?

This is your opinion based on your own definition, and it is wrong. ye sit is currently trendy bash retail, but even when you hate it - it is still MMORPG.
Have you played games like Lineage 2 classic that you need 2 years to reach level cap and have no instanced content? games like that are 1000 times more mmorpg than retail that has mythic raids.
Yeah it’s the game fault not the players. I’m always having fun with my friends on Discord while doing some raid / m+ / legacy achievment run. If you can’t then maybe you are the problem.
I think the problem is that a lot of forum Timmies aren’t very social, opposite of that in fact, they lack the social intelligence to understand why people would be upset by layering/sharding etc in BFA, maybe this even applies to the game designers too, it’s a mess, really.
i am 14 level in classic and i have talked more while leveling to other people than the last 3 expansions of retail. mmorpg is not the end game is everything from day 1 and retail is missing that
yet sometimes feels that some other people are yet too desperate to get human contact in game for some reason…
An mmorpg is an rpg game with a lot of players playing at the same time. In WoW you have something called ‘classes’ and you have ‘a lot of players’.
