Just out of interest what are the population counts for all retail servers vs classic?
I don’t think there’s anyone still playing retail apart from the odd low achiever.

Realistically I’d say a couple hundred thousand are playing retail across all regions, while a couple million are playing Classic.
Sadly you can’t judge from realm Population (Low/Med/High) on Classic since they increased the visual capacity the other week in line with layering.

retail is probably still bigger just by the fact that it have about twice as much realm and most of them are high pop.

Dailies and lfr won’t do themselves!.. well, at least not yet.
There is nothing realistic about your speculation of a couple of hundred thousand players on all regions considering there are currently 10 full realms and more than 15 at high status on the Eu region alone .

Pretty sure retail realm pop and classic realm pop are different things with different caps. I think in retail it’s characters overall, and in classic currently playing players. I can be wrong on that.

Nope, it’s very realistic. Retail WoW’s realm population (Low/Med/High/Full) is different from Classic due to retail having no layering and a recent change to how realm population shows on Classic, so a ‘Full’ realm on retail is mostly likely a ‘Medium’ realm on Classic.

We’re not Blizzard, so our only source is logic here, especially since the subs are tied and I highly doubt Blizz will release actual numbers.
Since players like to go from Classic to Retail depending on the day/time/situation, it makes it harder to tell, and layering doesn’t help with checking how active areas look.
Why do we care though ?

Maybe that’s why the broke the census+ addon, so there wouldn’t be accurate numbers :o </tinfoilhat>
Shame Trelw will debunk you as him and some friends did a lot on censur+ and it shows for EU retail and EU classic about the same numbers which was about 1.2 miliion each online at same time .
I frigging hate retail but come on, there’s probably plenty of people playing it.
