Would just like to state i as many others would really like to see the clone service return to classic ERA. My hope us that with more people voicing the same request Blizzard will be nudged to look into ways to make this a reality.

The copies of these characters are 2 years old, you didn’t activate them when they were current, they are outdated now.
And as it has been written multiple times already, the data has been deleted.

For all we know the OP’s characters were level 25 when the snapshot was taken.
And so what? Then he’ll have his level 25 back in Era again to level. Of course we can’t have what we only got in TBCClassic or Wrath Classic. I don’t want my clone to come to Era with BC mounts an gears. I want him back at level 30something.

I think you missed Dotties point: we don’t know what level he was when clone copy was taken. He could he 60, he could be 25. Maybe the character wasn’t even created at that time.
What Dottie implies is without the clone backup data it is not possible to do the cloning since you don’t know anything about levels, gear, quests, reputation, stuff in bags etc.
Even as cloning would be handy it would also have the side effect of adding a lot of geared or stocked characters. You would suddenly have Naxx toons selling their own GDKPs, Naxx wannabes wanting a spot in Naxx raiding guilds, and so on. Commercialization would go even further… and on PvP Clusters quite a bit of people probably want clones to have vengeance on gankers and to then gank as well 
But if cloning be reinstated, he will have back character as it was on the day snapshot was taken.

What do you mean with outdated m8? I find it hard to beleive they would delete that data. Maybe some of it was deleted or overwritten, but i do imagine there being ways to restore character info even it might take some effort.

They did, now live with it. remember it was also on the wrath realms so they didn’t need the Era versions.
You want another reason why the data is gone? A small fraction of players characters weren’t on either Wrath or Era, they disappeared, and Blizzard could not restore them. If they had the Era data they could have.
You are avoiding the real issue: The snapshot data does not exist anymore.
And the snapshot data is more than 2 years old now.

Because you keep dodging it and talk about backup data which does not exist. You can’t bring cloning back anymore - it’s over, such as:
