It is just random. I’ve gotten 9 mounts so far, my guildie has gotten like 15. We’ve been both been grinding since the start, me with some breaks.
First day got 5, next 2, 1 yesterday and 1 so far today.

It definetly feels very weird. I have only gotten 1 mount and have done alot of runs.
To me it dont feel buffed. But some people reports lots of drops. Maybe their account is flagged for some reason to get all of the drops. But it seems only some people get all of the drops and other people get 0-1 drops…
I hope someone can do a deeper investigation on this.
That’s not how statistics work, and they have nothing to do with how you feel.
With a 5% drop rate, out of a 100 people, 40 of them will see a mount drop in their first 10 kills, while 8 of them will not see a mount drop by 50 boss kills. 1 unlucky out of those 100, will do 90 runs and still not see a mount.
5% is not that big of a chance when doing tens of runs, and it only makes a difference either in big numbers of runs, or after a long time farming.
I’ve had luck once; Got the toy for DH from Nighthold.
I’ve farmed nonstop almost since for other things (Mounts; toys - even mogs) and had extreme unluck as usual.
So I will just consider this event “None-existant” and be happily surprised if I happen to get anything more during it, but I won’t attatch the result to the event, just - luck-of-the-day, I guess.
This is also the experience I got, people getting several mounts in 1 try since the buff, me doing necrotic wake like there’s no buff, tens and tens of runs, nothing.
If they hadn’t told me about the buff, I wouldn’t suspect there’s one with my own results.
I mean, I’ve had other weeks with 40 failed attempts at necrotic wake when the buff wasn’t there, doesn’t seem to be different.
You are joking? Guildwars 2 is the greediest game company in the world. I played the game actively for 7 years and i never looted something worth more then 1k gold.
Over 400 kills on different raid end bosses havent got a single mount
My experiences with GW2 are quite similar.
“I would wish you luck, if such a thing existed.”
–Custodian of Time
Apparently such a thing does exist, so far 17 mounts and insane amount of transmogs, including Thori’dal, the Stars’ Fury.
Well its rng, i got invincible after aprox 10 runs and i can hear in the channel in icecrown many got it as well.
I did farm lichking many times before the buff with no mount.
I just want to thank everyone who flagged my comment about my opinion of the moral side of short timed FOMO events like this.
Indeed, 5% is not high. But with an army of alts you are pretty sure to get it at the end of the day.
With something less than 1% it may take years and years.
Yesterday I got Fiery Warhorse after 27th kill and Midnight after 29th. Glad that grind is over.
Had a good run the last few days:
Midnight
Swift White Hawkstrider
Flametalon
Rivendare’s Deathcharger
Armoured Razzashi Raptor
I decided to target mounts I’ve done repeated runs for in the past, but which have a good drop rate with the bounty. I have a lot of alts, so I knew I was highly likely to get the above quite quickly. I have deliberately avoided the lowest drop rate ones so far as I don’t want to spend ages farming them on multiple alts and finish the bounty period with little to show for it.
Fiery warhorse and mimiron checked.
I wanted mostly fiery warhorse, ashes and alysrazor (different ashes)
mimiron kind of just dropped during a mog run during this event I wasn’t specifically after the mount, basically my first attempt first drop mount of this event
all those 70’s that came out of remix pandaria are strongly justifying me not having deleted them
wish firelands had a skip tho
Tehnically it has. You need to go to Alysrazor(dont kill it or aggro), pick up the feathers it drops on the ground(3 of them). Then once you fly, kill the boss and you fly to the next area. Here’s a video for visual reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPEtqh2DWOQ
Saved me a ton of time.
Somebody who fails to grasp the idea behind RNG and chances.
Calling it a scam because you fail to understand it is… interesting. to say the least.
Thank you am going to try it out when I get home
This’d cut off a lot of time yeah!
if at any point Blizzard said “You are gauranteed to get a mount every raid” then yes it would be a scam.
However, they said no such thing, they said you had an increased chance.
So no. It isn’t a scam.
I Hope you are not counting those 400 kills from 20 kills with a full 20 man raid, because this is not how it works.
Full raid or solo, every kill is just one attempt with 5% chance of dropping.
If you did 400 kills solo without any drop with 5% droprate, congratulation, you are alone in the whole WoW universe, because the probability to get a mount drop in 400 tries with 5% droprate is 99.999999877131 %.
